Full List of Social Security Offices Closing After DOGE Cuts

DOGE is going after waste, fraud and abuse. Are you saying that there is no waste and inefficiency at the Social Security Administration?
SS payments need to be totally shut down until we can figure out what the hell is going on.

So an agent that is already understaffed by SEVEN THOUSAND workers is having its work force cut by a creep that has no respect for it.

Elmo has recently called SS a Ponzi scheme

He wants to destroy YOUR retirement

Why run a Ponzi scheme where most recipients are dead?

They may be "dead" but they can still collect Social Security AND vote democrat. They identify as "non-living" and they have the same rights as any other citizen

Elmo has failed to show that ANY of the people on this “dead list” ever drew a penny from SS after they died

Some people don't believe that fat meat is greasy. DOGE is going after social security.

Recent federal initiatives from President Donald Trump and his administration have led to the closure of multiple Social Security offices, raising concerns about the accessibility of services for beneficiaries nationwide.

Newsweek reached out the Social Security Administration via email for comment.

Why It Matters

Trump, in collaboration with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has directed the General Services Administration (GSA) to terminate leases on approximately 7,500 federal offices, including those of the Social Security Administration (SSA).

The SSA is already struggling with staffing shortages. In testimony before Congress on March 21, 2024, former SSA Commissioner Martin O'Malley stated that by the end of FY 2024, the agency would serve 7 million more beneficiaries with 7,000 fewer full-time staff than in FY 2015. He warned that the SSA cannot "keep doing more with less," noting that budget constraints have left the agency at its lowest staffing level in 25 years. Combined with office closures, these shortages could worsen delays and limit critical services for beneficiaries.

What To Know

The Department of Government Efficiency, established to streamline federal operations, has initiated the termination of leases for numerous Social Security offices across the country. This action is part of a broader strategy to consolidate government real estate and reduce operational costs.

Here's the list of Social Security Offices that have been or are in the process of being closed by DOGE:

  1. White Plains, New York
  2. Logan, West Virginia
  3. Carlsbad, California
  4. Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina
  5. Batesville, Arkansas
  6. Columbus, Ohio
  7. Okemos, Michigan
  8. Nacogdoches, Texas
  9. Green Bay, Wisconsin
  10. Las Vegas, Nevada
The outcomes for the buildings varied: some faced lease termination, others were consolidated, backfilled, leased directly by agencies or moved to federal space.

Great news! Cutting SS offices but not benefits. Winning.

The GOP talks about raising the retirement age, that is a cut in benefits.

wrong... both party's talk about age limits going up for new workers... not anyone on or close to applying for SS.....
Did your media tell you about this...

It needs to go semi private and get government out of it... just think how much money retirees would have for retirement today if we did what Bush wanted... to tie it to the Market.... people would be retiring mini millionaires....

This is all they got though. They need to spread the fake fear. Same as all their other lies ie glowarm, russia hoax, racist racist racist etc. Its never ending with these liars.

It should. I'm not for cutting SS but there should be, at the least, an opt in or out choice.

And I have some Trump Trading Cards to sell you. How about some crypto. Can I interest you in tulip bulbs.

What they will do is tank the economy by driving it into a recession. The odds are 91%. Ten of the last eleven recessions started under a Republican. That's just a fact. You sure know how to pick losers.
The only thing that held off a Biden recession was the stupid political acts by the federal reserve....
The market will go nuts when the rare earth agreement is signed with Ukraine and we get a cease fire....
So freak out not my boy......

Wow

Pearl clutching and faint to couch

If I miss one payment, I'm going muskrat hunting for his pelt. Ponzi scheme in ultimate slow motion doesn't make any sense. Young dudes wanting to invest, instead of paying into the SS system have never heard of the Great Depression.

Did your media tell you about this...

Two people die at age 75. Both have the same earning history.

One was eligible for Full Retirement Age SS benefits at age 65.

The other was eligible for Full Retirement Age benefits at age 70.
.
.
.
.
The person drawing full FRA benefits at age 65 will draw more benefits then the person whose FRA was raised to 70.

That's basic math.

So ya, raising the retirement age is a cut in benefits as it delays when equal benefits start.

Age extensions were per age group... My sister is 70 and she waited till she turned 70 to collect SS but she was eligible for the full amount at 65... Her husband is also 70 and took his at 66... he still gets his full amount but less than my sister... and if you collect and keep working it goes up every year because you are still contributing...
