SCOTUS allows Trump to finish dismantling the Department of Education

There ya go, destroy the education system in this Country so you ******* MAGA jerkoffs can claim to "own the libs". Make it so only wealthy kids can get a decent education. Kids with learning disabilities etc? Tough shit, right?

You fuckers are so goddam stupid it's a wonder you still know how to breathe.

Hey, dipshit....the education system got worse after carter created the Dept. of Ed, not better........

You want to trap poor and middle class children is crap schools simply so teachers unions can launder money for the democrat party.

I'm not sure how this was ever a question.
The President is the Chief Executive; he runs the Executive Branch.
His power to reorganize the executive branch - including letting people go from it - runs broad and deep.

This was never a question, until now.

To your first para: that is a very good question. It's true that some small percentage can be put down to "better dx". But not most. But I'm still teaching, and the explosion of odd learning and neurological disorders is very alarming.

Also, education has been subjected to the same "victimology" that overtook the culture. If a child has "needs", the needs of the other children don't matter. I've seen it over and over and frankly, it's a big part of what drove me to early retirement.
I am hearing much the same from other educators among my friends and family and there are a lot of them.

Seriously, as a child I might have been diagnosed as ADHD. My straight A and B report cards also almost always included gigs for deportment. Boring or regimented was not something I tolerated well. :) I did improve on that by high school I think but it was still frustrating to me to have to wait until we could move on to something more interesting.

But I think of myself and my classmates. So far as I know none of us were drugged with anything or were considered 'special needs' in any way. Some of us excelled in subjects more than others, and occasionally somebody didn't pass a grade and had to repeat, but we all pretty much got there even though we really did have to earn those grades. There may have been some but I didn't know anybody who didn't graduate. And we really did receive a world class education.

So what changed? If Admiral Rockwell Tory is right--he says he was also a teacher--why are half the kids 'challenged' now? Why, as he said, on IEPs or whatever?

And how did you manage to be a sane, sensible person that isn't a leftwing wacko looney in today's education system? (Most--not all--of my good friends and family in education aren't either, but the ones that aren't are almost all in deep red states.)

The No Child Left Behind Act signed by W. based on one pilot project with fudged data from one Texas school system was when the Department of Education started to spin out of control. It impacted the ground in a fireball when Michelle Obama, whose kids went to a fancy pants private school, decided she could use all this sucked up federal power to "fix" public school lunches.

Gee. How did I know???

The National Education Association, America’s largest teachers’ union, enjoys a rare privilege: a federal charter, granted by Congress in 1906 — the only labor union to hold that distinction.

But leaked resolutions from its 2025 annual meeting, shared with us by a dismayed union member, reveal an organization that has traded its educational mission for blatant political activism.

Congress must revoke the NEA’s federal charter to signal its disgust at the union’s taxpayer-backed assault on students, parents and common sense.

The NEA’s annual convention in Portland, Ore. last week produced resolutions that read like a progressive battle plan — not a roadmap for better schools.

In a moment of peak parody, one approved resolution committed spending $3,500 of union money on “using the term facism in NEA materials to correctly characterize Donald Trump’s program and actions.”

Yes, the teachers union misspelled “fascism” while applying that label to the duly elected president of the United States.

This is the same as the "NAEP is the National Association for Educational Progress."?
The NAEP is a separate group within the Dept of Education and supposed to be immune from political influences. But that seems almost impossible given how political the Dept of Education became especially under Biden.

Good. Education should be turned back to the states anyway, and a Federal Department based around it is a complete waste of money when it is filled with activists.
"When the Executive publicly announces its intent to break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the Judiciary's duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it," she wrote.

"The President must take care that the laws are faithfully executed, not set out to dismantle them," Sotomayor wrote later in her opinion. "That basic rule undergirds our Constitution's separation of powers. Yet today, the majority rewards clear defiance of that core principle with emergency relief. Because I cannot condone such abuse of our equitable authority, I respectfully dissent."

Sotomayor's two liberal colleagues, Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, joined in her dissent.

"The majority apparently deems it more important to free the Government from paying employees it had no right to fire than to avert these very real harms while the litigation continues," Sotomayor wrote. "Equity does not support such an inequitable result."

Naturally, the conservatives gave no reason for their ruling. How could they since it violates the law.

Against nutritious meals for kids?

Skye Perryman, the CEO and president of Democracy Forward, which is representing the groups that filed the lawsuit, said Monday's ruling was "devastating" to public education.

"On its shadow docket, the Court has yet again ruled to overturn the decision of two lower courts without argument. While this is disappointing, the Trump-Vance administration's actions to decimate a department established by Congress are still unconstitutional," Perryman said in a statement.

Sotomayer is an activist judge.

Trump is now having to resort to impossible extremists threats, that mostly never see the light of day.

The reason being that he's tried pulling the same stunts too many times.

Now he has to think of something to surprise even his base.

Diirect war against Russia is not in the cards. It probably never will be.
That should be a matter of celebration. Who wants a war with Russia? Not me.

15th post
lol. Who would lie about being a teacher? I made five times a teacher’s salary when I got into real estate. Then as now, math teachers are highly sought after. If you have math degree, the cert requirements are minimal.
Bullshit! Why do you spout BS you know is incorrect? States require you to have specific coursework to be certified and you must often pass a certification exam to illustrate basic knowledge. I was certified in 2 states and for the DoD for middle and high school math, social studies and as a high school administrator. You don't have a clue, as per usual.

Trump is a master of dealing with other leaders and powerful people. Like him or not, he didn't become a billionaire without being a master negotiator. The idiot lefties crow about his business failures and some of them came during a bad recession., But when you start many businesses like he has, there are bound to be some that don't make it.

What happened to all the liberal fools including Democrat idiot politicians like Brennan and other stupid people who claimed that Trump and Putin were butt buddies and kissy-kissy? They are silent now because they are seeing Trump made a rare earth deal with Ukraine meaning that Putin now knows we have a financial stake in Ukraine, and where is the "Trump is a Russian asset" when he is giving them 50 days to make a deal and proceeding to get the NATO countries to assist in supplying arms to Ukraine??

So much for that propaganda gaslighting by the Dems and press that Trump kisses Putin's ass.

This is true.
However, if you have the required subject education but lack the teaching credentials/certificates, a K-12 will often get you a waiver to teach while you acquire same.

How did we know to were a member of the teacher's tribe of socialists who got paid the same no matter how badly they failed. It takes an act of congress almost to fire a teacher.

BTW, did you get to retire at 55 with full bennies?
