Russian Oil

In light of Putin's invasion of Ukraine, why is America still buying oil from Russia?

As an aside, did I just hear recently that Biddum had a chance to buy oil to replenish our emergency stocks at only $9/barrel and he PASSED because buying oil just isn't within the framework of his environmental wackjob base's psychology?!

As far as Fuck Biden is concerned, white people are getting killed and he will pay for that. With our money

To be perfectly honest with you he's much more concerned about CRT being in schools than white people dying. Black people now that's an entirely different story.

It is also worth asking why big foreign banks including Citibank are operating in a "routine manner" in Russia.

"As the Russian sanctions are currently structured, it’s difficult to say if the plan is to stop Russian military aggression on its neighbors or to allow foreign global banks to grab market share in Russia."

.Here’s Why the Russian Sanctions Are a Dud: Big Foreign Banks from the U.S., France, Austria and Italy Are Operating in a "Routine Manner" in Russia

why wouldn’t? there is nothing forbidding then from doing it. They have contacts and clients there…if xiden would issue some protection by issuing sanctions they could stop without legal consequences

We started buying oil from Russia after Trump placed sanctions on Venezuela.
haha you know this is a lie, we started buying oil from russia during the clinton admin

reached a peak during obama, slowed down during trump when we became energy independent and hit another peak under xiden

so stop repeating this already debunked lie

50 million barrels is enough for 2

It's been a long time since Clinton was president. We haven't bought Russian oil in years... We have never been energy independent. We import 8 million bpd and export 3 million bpd. We started buying oil from Russia after Trump put sanctions on Venezuela.

Why are gas prices so high now then? They are twice as high as during Trump's Presidency. Could is be because Biden shut down our energy production by denying oil leases and shutting down drilling? His 'green' fantasy has caused world chaos.

Sanctions that don't target global economic elites are propaganda ploys designed to distract 90% of Americans and Russians from who gets rich from war and inflation and who pays the cost:

Here’s Why the Russian Sanctions Are a Dud: Big Foreign Banks from the U.S., France, Austria and Italy Are Operating in a "Routine Manner" in Russia

"Noticeably missing from President Biden’s press conference yesterday on expanded sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine was any mention of how the U.S. and its allies were going to deal with the big foreign global banks that conduct banking business for thousands of Russian corporations and millions of Russian individuals. Biden only mentioned sanctions on Russian banks.

"That sent a loud message to the MOEX Index at the Moscow Stock Exchange, which as of 2:49 p.m. today in Moscow (6:49 a.m. in New York) had rallied into positive territory from a loss of as much as 45 percent yesterday, when the precise nature of the expanded sanctions were as yet unknown. (See chart below.)"

The industry is recovering world wide since the covid lockdown. And, there's a surge in demand world wide.

What would you advise Biden to do in response to Putin's invasion of Ukraine?
well if he is going to simply continue with sanctions…maybe make some meaningful ones

if he hadnt betrayed our allies in afghan maybe he could work with them..UK, France, NATO countries…as well as our allies in the ME, and around the globe to join. Sadly he won’t get china, they own him and played him.

frankly there is very little he can do at this point since the invasion has started. Best he allow NATO to take the lead until he’s out of office, and a real leader takes over

China will not make the same mistake Moscow made in the 1990s by turning over the commanding heights of their economy to US investors.

There is nothing any POTUS can do to change that reality: China is rising and the USA is in decline.

The current crisis in Ukraine got a big boost from Obama and Biden in 2014 by fueling a destabilization campaign against a corrupt yet duly elected president:

What you should really know about Ukraine | MR Online

"As political turmoil engulfed the country in the leadup to 2014, the U.S. was fueling anti-government sentiment through mechanisms like USAID and National Endowment for Democracy (NED), just as they had done in 2004.

"In December 2013, Nuland, assistant secretary of state for European affairs and a long-time regime change advocate, said that the U.S. government had spent $5 billion promoting 'democracy' in Ukraine since 1991.

"The money went toward supporting 'senior officials in the Ukraine government…[members of] the business community as well as opposition civil society' who agree with U.S. goals."

How would the US respond if Russia or China was spending billions to destabilize Mexico or Canada?
