Republicans like to think they understand the concept of “free shit” but actually don’t

it’s a phrase used by republicans to denigrate the left for wanting tuition free college or socialized healthcare, but they don’t really understand how these concepts are no different than programs already in place.

When a republican’s house is on fire or they need police assistance do they pay the responders personally? Uh no. They keep the “free shit”. You see, something like free tuition or socialized medicine are no different. All of these programs are paid for with tax payer revenue. Bernie, after all, has tax proposals to pay for his ideas.
"Free shit" is what the Democrat/Socialists want us all to think is Socialism.
Socialism is all about the takeover of private property by the federal government.
Doing things to help people is not Socialism
No...that charity.
Socialists aren't into charity.....they're into forcing compliance.
No, that is what modern governments do

And you vote for it.

How telling.

The type of government that was invented in the early 1900s. You call that modern?

The kind of government you vote for is only charitable on the surface.....but that is just an attempt to trick the uninformed into supporting them....and eventually give them enough power so they can begin removing our Constitutional rights one by one.

You and millions of others, to the great disappointment of our founders.

It's easy to be charitable with other peoples money.

Damn Skippy

Teddy Roosevelt started us on a path where Government was actually concerned with the common man over the greed of Big Business.

Great men like FDR, Ike, JFK, LBJ and Obama followed

Like how Trump threatens everyone with tariffs?

No....tariffs are designed to even up trade imbalances between countries.

When another country manipulates their currency and refuses to allow you to sell products in their markets....you impose tariffs on them.

Socialists impose harsh restrictions on their own society and take their property away.
They are just one step from being communists because they take away private production of food.

No, that's impossible with poor countries. Especially ones where we are exploiting their cheap labor.

We manipulate our currency all the time. There is never a time we are not.

I wish one person would discuss things honestly. Looks like you aren't.

You offered NO argument against what I said.

If they work & pay taxes while going to college, they are still paying for everybody elses college & will do so for life.

And that's what you call "free".
Christ everyone pays taxes. You implied those who go to college don’t. And yeah, this concept applies to any government program some people don’t use. Plenty of people aren’t on Medicare or Medicaid yet they pay for those taxes myself included. You don’t hear me whining. Without tax payer revenue, elderly people and kids of poor families wouldnt get healthcare.

Billy, our founders never wanted anything like this. They wanted free people, not kept people by their federal government. It's the reason they left and found this land in the first place.

Thanks to progressivism (if you wish to call it that) we went from a free people, to a cradle-to-grave government. Government provides housing (in suburbs for many cities) provides food, provides medical care, provides phones, provides daycare centers, provides utilizes, tells us what to eat, what we can and cannot smoke, what kind of cars we should be driving, provides retirement funds, what our children are allowed to eat in school, and even a choice of gender you wish to be.

Does that sound like we are free people to you? And to add insult to injury, it's not enough. Now government wants to provide you with national healthcare coverage and college as well. What's left for you to decide? What color of carpet you have in your home?

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution that grans Congress the right, of expending on articles of benevolence, the money of their constituents."

I support the government providing the large majority of those things. Not even sure what you mean by phones or gender but whatever.

Let me put this way: obviously there is such a thing as too much government. However, there is also such a thing as too little. That balance is important.
So what is too much?
This from a guy who compares college education with the police. He does not understand what the government is there to do...
The reason why free college is important is because the country benefits from educated people. We NEED more educated people like doctors or scientists.
What a crock of shit, most people that go to college avoid science and math like the plague, they graduate with liberal arts degrees and stay in their parents basements.
If you want more of those, then PAY them.....
Not everyone needs to go to college, we need manual labor as well......in fact we need them more than scientists.
You really don't understand how life works....
And going to school, should be on you.....it makes the people who want to go, figure out a way to go
And we could make college affordable, like lowering tuition and books...…..funny how the left never mentions this....ever

See that’s just you entertaining a stereotype about college because you never went there. It’s true to an extent but obviously people do go to college to get degrees that allow them to be teachers, lawyers, engineers, economists etc.if more people went to college we, would have more of them.

So you’re saying that no one becomes all of those careers because 50% of grads go back home? That’s stupid lol. Of course, if you actually understood this subject you would know those people end up back with their parents because they can’t pay their student loans. No cost tuition would obviously improve this problem.

Nothing can solve that problem. However, this program can easily be paid for with tax on Wall Street speculation as Bernie has proposed.

Sure, if you want to tank the market. Then the entire economy goes down the toilet. How is it the deficit and debt problem can't be solved but new unneeded spending can?

Well I do have a degree.....In Information Technology, so I took a lot of classes, you lefties avoid like the plague.
The problem is you don't know why college exists and what caused the issues

What is college for?

It is to cultivate leaders through giving them a well rounded education to succeed in life.

What happened?
2 Major problems....
1) Cost of college has skyrocketed.
Tuition and books are astronomical.....but the people who own the culture institutions(the left) that complain about costs, never complain about this one, because all of their buddies make a killing off of this. Also one of the reason they want everyone in college
2)Curriculum
It used to be you have to be well rounded, take a foreign language and calculus and science in addition to humanities and English classes. Now you can avoid those classes you don't like, thus you are not well rounded and not prepared to be a leader.

So when you want everyone to go to college and be doctors and such, you would have to lower the costs for more people to enter college, but at the same time increase the requirements to make the degree worth a fuck.
