Republican SNAP Proposals Could Take Food Away From Millions of Low-Income Individuals and Families

The U.S. has the most well-to-do "poor" people in the world. Get a job, losers.

Remember the mass resignation that occurred during covid? We need another 5 million people to walk off the job. Just retire. That would boost the economy. There'd be lots of open jobs.

Powerful accusation, coming from a guy who thinks communism works.
Always with qualifications, there are no unqualified absolutes. You pretend that there's only one type of socialism or communism (or one way to do it), and that I propose communism always functions well, under all conditions, and that's false. You're wrong. I never argued that, so you're just resorting to straw-man arguments (typical Todd tactic). The straw man (misrepresent what your opponent is arguing and then attempt to refute those false assertions).

Before the election, Republican mantra was that American families were suffering and barely able to make ends meet and we need to help them.

After the election, needy families are lazy and stupid and deserve scorn and derision.

Fascinating how they talk to people when they need something from you.

A co-op model puts surplus earnings back into the business or the workers themselves, rather than funneling them up to distant owners or executives who don’t lift a finger in the day-to-day operations.
who decides what percentage goes back in? Everyone gets a vote? Wouldn't that affect their take home pay? hmmmmmmm

n fact, many successful co-ops do have pay structures that acknowledge varying levels of skill, responsibility, and tenure. The difference is that the process is transparent and decided collectively, not handed down from on high by someone whose only stake is the money they initially threw in. You can still have differentiated pay scales in a co-op; nobody’s forcing you to split your check evenly with the new hire who’s learning the ropes.
Are you suggesting there isn't a leader at all? So every act is voted on by everyone? So what happens when there is a disagreement? You know, when someone who does less than some other more skilled, is paid the same and that skilled worker says whoaaaaa?

Today's employers frequently complain about today's youth and work ethic. That's a complete lie. The other lie is "nobody wants to work anymore". People have never worked harder or produced more than today's young american workers.
didn't all you demofks say there were jobs illegals do that americans won't? Why can't the youth do those jobs and earn that cheap salary and begin the process of inclusion in the work force? It's how I began.

For themselves. The money is produced by human labor (their employees/exploitees). No one in society should have that much power. It's dangerous. Billionaires as a socioeconomic class, shouldn't exist.
then how would they be able to hire other workers and pay them?

It’s ok. With Trump deporting the migrants who harvest our crops and process our meat, along with making imported food products unaffordable via tariffs, there won’t be any food left to give to snap recipients anyway. In a few years we’ll probably be fighting each other to the death over a can of spam.
when did that start?

How about this , Companies like Walmart pay shit wages knowing that employees will struggle to make ends meet, and that they will be subsidized by YOUR TAX MONEY with social safety net programs. Yet you people let them get away with that shit by not supporting minimum wage laws and strong union representation . There is no ******* mystery .
so wait, it seems you are implying that the reason Walmart may pay low wages is because they know the government will fund the rest of their salary? And that's on Walmart? I'd say that's on you for allowing welfare to make workers dependent, right?

“Prominent Republican lawmakers and conservative think tanks have proposed cuts and other harmful policy changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that could gain traction in Congress this year. These changes would cut food assistance across the U.S., making it harder for millions of people to buy the groceries they need to eat a healthy diet.”

Why are able-bodied people without dependents on subsidies? I’m not even sure why having dependents is an issue. Most people with kids work everyday. Yet it’s a big “mystery” why there are different outcomes for some people in this country.

If someone is able to work, why should the taxpayers pay for their food?

If, because of drug addiction or laziness, they need food, and they don't want to work, there are missions in major cities where bums can get a good bowl of soup after they listen to an appropriate sermon.

Given that there were already millions of job openings that couldn’t be filled before the deportations, This simply means that food is going to rot in the fields and prices are going to go up.
where are the students working?
