Remember “No Tax on Overtime”?

They’re fighting to make sure the janitor working 50 back-breaking hours a week pays as much income tax as possible so that Baby Momma on the couch can still get enough welfare for candy and soda.
Not a one, i guarantee not a one, of the upper management could ever clean anything without tears and a mental breakdown.

1) What other U.S. president kidnapped another country’s leader?

George H. W. Bush (1989)
He ordered the invasion of Panama (Operation Just Cause) and U.S. forces captured Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega, put him on a U.S. military plane, and brought him to Florida to stand trial.
Noriega was the sitting head of Panama’s government at the time.
That is literally the U.S. military kidnapping a foreign head of state and hauling him to U.S. prison.
I'll give you that one.
2) What other president bombed boats?
Several.

Ronald Reagan (1988)
During Operation Praying Mantis, the U.S. Navy:
Destroyed Iranian warships
  • Sank multiple Iranian boats
  • Blew up two Iranian oil platforms
  • This was the largest U.S. naval battle since World War II.

Barack Obama (2015–2016)
U.S. forces destroyed boats used by ISIS and bombed vessels in Libya and Syria during anti-terror operations.

Joe Biden (2024)
Ordered airstrikes on Houthi boats in the Red Sea to protect shipping.
So bombing boats is very much a bipartisan tradition.
All military strikes on terrorist legit military targets.
3) What other president wanted to buy another country?
Several did — long before Trump.

Harry Truman (1946)
He offered $100 million to buy Greenland from Denmark.
Denmark said no. The U.S. kept military bases there anyway.
Offered then abandon.
Not Trump.
Andrew Johnson (1867)
Bought Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million (called “Seward’s Folly” at the time).

Thomas Jefferson (1803)
Bought the Louisiana Territory from France — doubling the size of the U.S. overnight.

Buying land from other countries is one of the most American things we’ve ever done.
Offer accepted, so?
4) What other president sent the National Guard into multiple states?
Many presidents have done this.

Dwight D. Eisenhower (1957)
Sent the National Guard and U.S. Army into Arkansas to force school desegregation.

Lyndon B. Johnson (1965)
Federalized the National Guard in Alabama to protect civil rights marchers in Selma.
Two isolated incidents.
George H. W. Bush (1992)
Sent National Guard and U.S. Marines into California during the LA riots.
At the request and agreed to by governor Pete Wilson.
This is not rare. It is built into the Constitution.
In all instances they were a result of violence that prompted the NG to be sent in.
Hardly the case with Trump.

No dummy, after 40 hours the OT rate is 30.00 per hour.

Most reasonable people of any political stripe think of any extra time you have to work as overtime (if you're not salaried). If you work 45 hours, most people would say that you got 5 hours of overtime.

When you hear "no tax on overtime", nearly everyone presumed that the money you got for that 5 hours of work would not be taxed.

These ridiculous "that's not overtime" arguments now being aired are hilarious.

If course it is ridiculous. Let the fools work overtime and get taxed on part of it.

Dont get me wrong...tax relief on part is a good thing.

But that wasn’t communicted--that it would only be a % of your overtime pay. Thats my point.
That’s because people with an IQ greater than their shoe size understand what overtime is.

🙄 I at least know that overtime pay is.

So according to you time and a half isn't overtime pay...just half is (since that is what you're claiming overtime pay is...).

So when you work overtime you really think they pay you only half your standard hourly rate? Yep...I may have overestimated your shoe size..it's about 3 right?

The overtime rate is the sum of the Standard (or Blended Rate) plus 50% times the number of hours in excess of 40.

So when you work overtime you really think they pay you only half your standard hourly rate?

No, they pay you Standard Rate (or Blended Rate if it involves multiple Jobs) plus an additional 50%.

Not "half". It's not like someone gets $20 and hour for straight time and then $10 for pay. They get $20 per hour (Straight of Blended Rate) pluch $10 (overtime factor) totallying $30 an hour.

The way the law/rule was written the tax examption only applies to the additional overtime factor.

The way it was sold was "no tax on overtime".

It was a lie.

Even then it's not necessarily good. We are $38 trillion in debt. It's adding to the argument that we don't have to pay for what we spend. It's also placing a huge burden on future generations so we can relieve ourselves of some.

Well yep. But if millionaires going getting served more cake than they can eat, I'm not going to feel bad about taking some crumbs.

It's all wrong. Totally irresponsible. It's not going to end well.

1) We are increasing tax revenue by requiring able-bodied people on welfare to work at least part-time, placing them on the road to full-time employment. The Dems voted against the work requirement, since they prefer they remain totally dependent on government, but thankfully the GOP is in charge and it passed.

2) We also need a minimum federal tax on every adult over 18. A country cannot sustain itself when half the people pay no federal income tax, and half of those people are actually takers. I would suggest that everyone - including welfare people - pay a minimum of 2% of all income, including income equivalents. Thus, if a family is getting $12,000 a year on food stamps and another $8,000 in TANF, they would have to pay $240 for the food and $160 for the cash handout.
