What I would not give for either party to put up decent presidential candidates. Come on Biden, Harris and Trump. But Trump was the better. Unfortunately the democrats have not put up a decent one since 1963 and with them talking Newsome as a possibility it does not look like it will be the next election. The Republicans have not had one since 1989. No idea who theirs will be next so perhaps they will stumble onto someone decent.

Or to have a better electoral system so there are better politicians all round.

The electoral system is not so much to blame as no term limits on fools in congress
No, I totally disagree.

Term limits would just have other people who are more incompetent and just looking for a pay day in government.

The electoral system could change the attitude of the politicians.

I don't know if this is a joke or not, I presume it is sarcasm. I will say this, I recall late at night years ago while driving with my wife and father in law, a guy with a headlight out, probably drunk, straddling the dividing line, almost hit us head on. A quick reaction saved our lives. I was shaking like a leaf and said, "I need a drink" though I had no interest in one just seconds prior. That is what I did when we arrived home. People do what they do whether your story is true or not.

A play on the words "shot" as in "a shot of vodka" and "shooting" and Kash Patel being a total boozehead.

notice these guys never seem to have any humor until something like this happens?

What happened? Nothing. Just another "attempt on Trump's life" where Trump was never in any danger.

Trump called some guy with a gun who killed nobody "sick". What does that make Trump has an army and killed loads of people including school children?

Once someone gets in they are very hard to remove.
I know I will have a lot of people disagree with this statement because they do not want to believe this, but most people vote not on policy but name recognition.
Once you are in the government gives you free mail to send out flyers and other campaign materials. Something that costs other candidates money. Special intrest groups are more willing to spend money on your campaign, especially if you agree to government spending for them or voting for their benefit.
We may get a few seeking a government payday but hopefully we would also get more intelligent people instead of those with crazy mindsets being locked in for life.
I could list dozens of those that should have never been in but managed to stay in government.

Doesn't matter. That's not the problem with the US electoral system.

The reason these people are hard to dislodge is MONEY and FPTP leads to people buying seats with MONEY.

PR stops that because you have to appeal to THE WHOLE COUNTRY, not just one small section of it.
