Democrats screw up everything they touch and the Negroes continue to be their main voting block. That is pathetic when you think about it, isn't it?
The lure of welfare, lax criminal prosecution and minority ass kissing is a big draw for the Negroes to the filthy Democrat Party.
The best way not be poor is to not vote in Leftest with failed Leftest policies. Negroes are reluctant to learn that lesson. Their plight is their own damn fault.
In October 15, 1964 the National Election Study performed a poll that indicated that 77% of the American people trusted the government to to the right thing most of the time.
In 1964 the national consensus was that the federal government, under the leadership of the Democrat Party, had ended the Great Depression, won the Second World War, and was managing an economy in which the standard of living for most Americans improved nearly every year.
Sen. Barry Goldwater ran against that consensus during the presidential campaign of 1964. He was buried in a landslide, in which President Johnson won 61% of the popular vote, and the Democrats won two to one majorities in both houses of congress.
Trust in the government has fluctuated since then. It has never gotten nearly that high again. According to Pew Research, in May 1, 2022 it was 20%.
Public Trust in Government: 1958-2022
Liberals would like to blame the loss of trust in the government on the War in Vietnam and the Watergate Scandal. The War in Vietnam ended in 1975. The Watergate Scandal ended a year earlier, with the resignation of Richard Nixon. Those were transitory events. I doubt many people think about them any more.
I suspect that the loss in trust in the government has happened mainly because of failures associated with the civil rights movement and the War on Poverty.
The New Deal of the Roosevelt administration turned unemployed whites into a stable working class of law abiding tax payers. The Great Society of the Johnson administration turned millions of low wage blacks into an unemployable underclass that supports itself with welfare checks and the gains from criminal activities.
An American Dilemma: The Negro Problem and Modern Democracy was published in 1944, and written by
Gunnar Myrdal. He was a Swedish academic who later won the Nobel Prize in Economics.

An American Dilemma Professor Myrdal acknowledged that blacks tend to perform less well academically than whites, and that they have higher rates of crime and illegitimacy. He blamed these on racial discrimination, and claimed that when blacks were no longer discriminated against most of them would begin to perform and behave as well as most whites.
An American Dilemma inspired the civil rights movement. It was cited in the 1954 Brown vs Board of Education Supreme Court Decision which found segregated schools to be un Constitutional.
For a very long time blacks have disappointed Dr. Myrdal's optimistic assessment of their potential. Black rates of crime are higher than they were in 1944. Black rates of illegitimacy are vastly higher. Black academic performance has improved little, despite expensive government spending programs like Head Start and No Child Left Behind.
Democrats view these failures as evidence that the government has not done enough to help blacks. Most whites see the failures as proof that the government had done far too much, and that blacks are responsible for their own problems, and many of ours.
