You folks are reading way too much into my question. Forget politics. Forget age, health status or any other issue you have. Very simple yes or no kind of a question. If you were called back to active duty, would you go?

It's a minor point but may be causing us to expand our reasons. You can't be called back after three years. After three years, they can offer you a position you're qualified for but taking it is strictly up to you. After three years, you're free as a bird. So for most of us, there is no scenario where we would be called back. Minor point.

BTW, I just helped train a guy who had been out of Army Aviation for 10+ years. They tracked him down and offered him a flying gig in Afghanistan. They offered a nice paycheck and a boost to his retirement. He took it. He was under no obligation--he did it just for the pay and retirement boost.

I have not been in the military, so I'll approach this from a different angle. At various times, I've considered joining the military. Obama has completely taken that thought out of my head though. The last thing I want to do is go and put my butt on the line so that he can help his Al Quaeda buddies.

You mean like his Al Qaeda buddy Osama Bin Laden? But you would no doubt put your ass on the line for someone like Bush/Cheney and their Haliburton buddies? Don't bother joining if your service to your country depends on who the CIC happens to be at the time.

I served ages ago in the Navy, and the ship I served on is an artificial reef, the F-14's all decommissioned, and my squadron stricken. Even my rating doesn't exist anymore. I have no reason to think the Navy would want me back. Hypothetically, If I was recalled, it would have to be because I have some current skills they would want, not what I did for them decades ago. This whole scenario is highly unlikely to all but those who left the service very recently.

MY ****! At what point did I say I am in the Bush/Cheney camp? Stop making these jumps to conclusions. Regardless, it wouldn't change my view on Obama either.

Seriously__ go youtube/google all the atrocities that the Syrian 'Rebels' have committed and what their affiliations are. These are the people who Obama financially supports and tried to have us go war with as allies. Go ahead and do that, and then come back and tell me I'm wrong.

Of course I would, regardless of Bush or Obama as president.

Yes. And if I had my life to live over, I would have gone career military.

In 1948 the Cold war was heating up and America began a new draft policy, WWII veterans would now register for the draft. I remember the August morning that I stood in line waiting with other WWII vets to register. There was a lot of joking and comments and a feeling of comradship that I had missed, but there were no political speeches, no, I won't go, no mention of the president no conditons to register, at least none I remember as serious. We registered and went home. In May of 49 I got my new classification, 4A.

The question being "regardless of age and health status", I would return to service if called up. I served in the Coast Guard and I would serve again.

On the other hand, age and health, would probably prevent me from being called up. Typically they want someone who can stand and walk. Since I have severe back problems, I don't see that as a possibility.

I'd want to go. But I haven't thought about what I'd do if/when Obama's regime ordered me to do something that wasn't in this country's best interests.

Would I fire on members of the Tea Party?

Would I want to be in a position of going to prison for disobeying an order?

Or helping a Patriot surreptitiously?

Would I be willing to be executed for it?

Certain things I would stand and fight for to the death.

But I see myself making the OTHER guy die for HIS beliefs.

My best role might be that of getting information out.

Maybe the military is no longer for me.

(Just thinking aloud.)

If GWB were in the Oval Office I'd go in a second.

In any capacity.

If Mitt were POTUS, ditto.

Obama?

No, I think not.

Well, I served under Bush and I saw so many of my brethren dying for nothing. I did 20 years actually. You sir are a fool. A partisan hack fool and its a good thing you are not in the service because you don't want to follow the orders of the president like you swore to do. Glad you are out.

Thank you for your service. Idiot.

I love the PX Heroes shouting all around us. Not you. The others, the usual suspects. The libturds, dimocraps and other various, assorted and sundry cowards.

Here it is, people.... Even in the most efficient Armies (ours, for instance), it takes a minimum of 12-14 REMFs (Rear Echelon MotherFuckers) to keep one Combat Soldier in the Field. Minimum

Why does everybody assume they're going to be given an M-4 and sent to work with SF or Rangers?

Laughable. The VAST majority of you would be in the rear with the gear washing my laundry and delivering my beer while I, and the few other Combat Worthy Soldiers in here, would be doing the fighting.

Kinda full of yourselves, aren't you?

You'll do what you're told or they might send ME after you.

And you wouldn't like that

I had to vote no, and the reasons why are...

1). I wouldn't serve under that filthy ******* kenyan fraud bastard if my wages were increased ten fold.

2). I'm not serving in any military where the homos are waltzing around openly flaunting their fagness either.

Otherwise I probably would... but I'd also have to be given a commission as a bird colonel or something.

No... see what I mean? ... Homo U.S. soldiers caught in astonishing act

That's just too disgusting for words. I'm ashamed of what the military has became, and I wouldn't have any part of it under any circumstances.

I'll be my own one man army.

But I will add, BBD, that if the military was the same as it was when I got out in 1987, YES, if I was called to go fight, I would. But the military was a whole lot different then, and we had a LEGAL commander in chief at the top, instead of some illegal little radical muslim shit stain.

Yes. I'd even go if Obama was the CinC.

Cops work for and represent the Government.

Soldiers work for and represent The People.

No politics allowed.

Which, BTW, is why libturds and libertarianturds always out-raise Patriotic Republican Politicians from within the Armed Forces.

Patriotic Soldiers understand that there should be no politics inside the Armed Forces.... Of ANY KIND. EVER!

libturd scum take politics to the ******* bathroom with them

I'll let your insolence pass.

You don't want to mess with me.

Regardless of your age, health status, retirement status, and if all prior members of the military, regardless of the branch of service originally served in were suddenly recalled to active duty, would you go willingly? This survey is for only people who have served at least one day on active duty in any branch of the military.

Yes, I would go.

I'd go. I'd really like one cruise on the new generation of Destroyer.

3 reasons why companies don't hire veterans - Fortune Management

3 reasons why companies don't hire veterans

As more veterans return from overseas and seek to enter the civilian workforce, they are encountering some misguided assumptions from hiring managers.

First are the assumptions and stereotypes about members of the military that make some employers reluctant to hire them. About one in three employers consider post-traumatic stress disorder to be an impediment to hiring a veteran, according to a survey report by the Society for Human Resource Management.

etc

That is actually the largest issue, and I have seen it myself.

"Oh, you were in the military? Sorry, we do not think you would fit in our company climate."

It only took me a year to find a company without such prejudices.

Your country either matters to you, or it doesn't.

Exactly.

I do not serve whoever the chair warmer in the Oval Office is at the moment. I serve the country and it's people.

And I am not worried about being deployed inside the US. Other then the country actually being invaded, that is illegal in so many ways it is not even worth considering.
