Zone1 Reasons why atheists don't want to believe there is a God

Atheists are an angry bunch. Yet you haunt the RELIGION forum HOPING someone will convince you that you have a Creator and will answer to Him when your time here ends
Isn’t that what you were trying to accomplish with this thread?

All I’m suggesting is that the characterization you used pretty much applies to everyone.
And I am pointing out, that you are wrong.

. . . but you already know why you do what you do, right?

There is a strong correlation between insecurity and a tendency to seek out or engage in conflict

Wrong about what?
Creating false narratives and judgments of what you believe others think and feel.
Even when you were told you have created strawmen, you persist.

All I pointed out, is that the values of atheists seem to mirror those values of Lucifarians.

It seemed to trigger something deep in you? I have no idea why you need to claim that the values of materialists are the same for everyone.

i.e.
I’m suggesting is that the characterization you used pretty much applies to everyone.

. . . maybe it was all those vendor luncheons?

I dunno.

What false narrative did I create? What judgements did I make concerning other people’s beliefs and feelings? All I pointed out was that most of those traits can apply to anyone. I don’t see a strawman. I don’t see how asking questions is anything more than asking questions.

Consider this: Throughout history there are stories of great nations (some mentioned in the Bible) of the end result when people decided everyone should just do whatever they felt was right for themselves personally. This is not a new idea thought up by modern man. After thousands of years of trying this, can a different result be expected? What say you?

Is it a good policy for teachers or businesses to tell their students/employees, "Do whatever you feel is right and all will work out for the best." ?
God does what a god does, and humans do what humans do.

Your beliefs about how you think Luciferism can be applied to everyone, is naught but your own projection.

Projection is the root of a strawman argument in many instances.

I’m having a hard time seeing how all but the last trait in your list can’t apply to almost everyone to some degree or another. That’s called an opinion. That not a judgement on anyone.

There’s no projection going on at all.

MisterBeale so you believe my saying the characterization you used pretty much applies to everyone means I said that the values of materialists are the same for everyone?

That quite a leap in logic not to mention that characteristics and values are not the same thing.

I mean if we are trying to distinguish between atheism and deism I would be saying atheists only believe in a material existence and deists believe in a spiritual and material existence. And as far as values are concerned that’s a much bigger discussion that can’t be limited to 6 characteristics. Which in reality aren’t values at all.

Are you making a moral argument?

Judgments on you ******* so-called "Christians" are NOT based morals. They are based facts.

Is it moral of you so-called 'Christians" to call for Gaza being leveled and Palestinian killed. "There are no innocent Children in Gaza". Never the fact you people say you are "Pro-Life", Never mind the children killed Ukraine. You people are "Pro-Life" when it suits you. Never the "Unborn" who are killed in Gaza and Ukraine, you people are "Pro-Life" when it suits you. Never Capital Punishment is state sponsored murder, you're "Pro-Life". Never mind the murder of Trevon Martin in Florida, You're "Pro-Life". Never mind the murder of Michael Brown, you're "Pro-Life". Never mind the murder of George Floyd, you're "Pro-Life". Never mind the murder of Walter Scott (shot in the back by a South Carolina Cop), you're "Pro-Life". Never mind the over 140+men and women injured on January 6, you're "Pro-Life".

I lived my values. I have a certificate from C.A.R.R.(California Association of Alcohol Recovery) Resources). I helped men and women kick alcohol and drug addiction. I fed the homeless. I worked for over 20+years with St. Anthony Foundation, they did not care if I was an atheist. What mattered is I cared for people. .

I love it when you make moral arguments. I’m only wondering if you will ever figure out why every argument you make is a moral argument. Even more fascinating is when you rationalize doing a wrong as a right as being moral. That’s how much you are hardwired for morality. It’s awesome. I don’t care if you are atheist. Couldn’t care less what you believe or do.

How did you manage to not teach they needed a higher power?

For what it’s worth I think abortion should be a class c misdemeanor with no jail time and a small fine. Also I’m not really for the death penalty. Life in prison seems severe enough for me. And I think the situation in Israel is tragic for both sides.

You really would be better off being curious instead of judgmental but whether you are or not is no skin off of my back. Those are your consequences to suffer, not mine.

God does what a god does, and humans do what humans do.
We have a choice. Mankind can choose a different path from that which was chosen in the past and which led to destruction.

What mattered is I cared for people.
That really doesn’t come across in most of your posts. I think maybe you have lost your way. You seem very angry.

For starters:

1. They would have to consider that they may be morally accountable to something greater than themselves

2. They would have to consider what happens to them upon death, and the possibility of them being judged for their actions in this life (for example, if I was a murderer or a rapist, I would probably be hoping that there is no God, and that I cease to exist upon death)
Did you ever consider the possibility that atheists just aren't convinced?
