Afrocentrism is unmitigated crap championed by ignorance and the likes of Asc. It is silently acknowledged as being such by academics the world over, though mutely so to avoid the increasingly insignificant label of racist.
Yaacov Shavit, a critic of the movement, summarises its goals in the preface to his book History in Black,[45] in which he states:
“ Thus, if historical myths and legends, or an invented history, play such a major role in the founding of every national reconstruction, the question that should concern us here is the nature of the distinct style in which black Americans imagine their past. The answer to this question is that radical Afrocentrism, the subject of this study, which plays a central role in shaping the modern historical world-view of a large section of the African-American (or Afro-American) community, is far more than an effort to follow the line taken by many ethnic groups and nations in modern rewriting, inventing or developing collective identity and national history. Rather, it is a large-scale historical project to rewrite the history of the whole of humankind from an Afrocentric point of view. The result is a new reconstruction of world history: it is a universal history. ”
Other critics contend that some Afrocentric historical research is grounded in identity politics and myth rather than scholarship.[46] In The Skeptic's Dictionary,[47] philosophy professor Robert Todd Carroll labeled Afrocentrism "pseudohistorical". He argued that Afrocentrism's prime goal was to encourage black nationalism and ethnic pride in order to effectively combat the destructive consequences of cultural and universal racism.[48][49] Similarly, African-American professor Clarence E. Walker, who teaches history at the University of California, Davis, has described Afrocentrism as "a mythology that is racist, reactionary, essentially therapeutic and is eurocentrism in black face."[50]

If I was a Eurocentric I would say the same thing. Problem is that DNA evidence has proved they are wrong. What is the excuse for the DNA results by 2 different DNA companies not owned or run by Black people? What ruse will white racist use to move the goal post next?
Also white people in the past/present have made the same claims which actually gave birth to Afrocentrism. I have seen the lies Eurocentrists have told for years being revealed. Heads are going to roll unless they come up with a new way hide the evidence.
The manner in which both ethnocentric ideas view the world are totally different from one another but they are alike in the sense that they strive to place each of their ideals at the center.
Afrocentrism seeks to teach a worldview that highlights the contributions of African people worldwide, and significantly in America, due to the cultural history of transported slaves being effectively stripped away and erased upon their arrival in America, as part of the dehumanizing process.
Afrocentrism is also a counter to the Eurocentric worldview which significantly diminishes contributions made by non-Europeans or non-Westerners, which is typical for the majority culture on any continent to set out to do. It is human nature to glorify the history and culture of the masses and minimize the culture of the minorities simply based on a belief that without the majority, there would be no viable or productive society.
Look at some of the statements that are frequently made in this forum.
How often do we read:
"If it were not for the white man, ____________would not survive".
The blank could represent for the most part, any other culture on the planet that has been impacted by western civilization, whether it has been through the minority being the target of invasion or their own arrival through immigration.
Eurocentrism on the other hand seeks to teach a worldview in which European and/or Western culture is superior to the cultures of the rest of the world, and contributions made by Europeans and the West are of the upmost importance, and significance.
Bottom line, it is to be expected that those with a purely Eurocentric view of the world would dismiss an Afrocentric view as being a view without credibility.
Speaking for myself, I think that there is merit in learning from all cultures, especially in a country whose inhabitants are rapidly approaching being a multi cultural majority.
