PU$S: 'John Kerry Expresses ‘Gratitude’ to Iran After U.S. Sailors Are Released...'

I don't get the issue here. The situation was handled properly and expediently. There really is no better outcome than what happened. This is a win for the Obama FP. At this point in general it seems Iran is one of Obama's FP successes.

I just don't get many Americans today. I mean if Iranian sailors had trespassed into U.S. waters, they would have immediately been killed. Iran showed patience and restraint. That should be acknowledged. Our sailors are still alive. We should thank Iran. That's not unreasonable in any way.

They would not have been killed. They would have been welcomed as 'immigrants' to our country. Maybe we should have told Iran to fuck themselves and demanded our people back.

No, we shouldn't have trespassed into its waters. And i seriously doubt your scenario. The U.S. military would have likely blasted them to bits.

Millions upon millions upon enter illellegally. They are called illegal migration. Sometimes we even higher them to do our yardwork.

We're talking about Iranian military. I'm pretty sure our military would have shot first, and asked questions later.
Then you have no idea what you are talking about whatsoever. We would have done exactly what they did, taken them into custody and released them to the owning nation.

You're much more sure than i am. I gotta go with shoot first, ask questions later. The Iranians did show serious restraint on this. What was the U.S. military doing in its waters? The Iranians know, but do most Americans?

Agreed, we would not have just blown them to bits but lets be real. We would have detained the soldiers, confiscated the weapons and then vetted their story. It would be idiotic to take the soldiers at their word without verification so we would have been very careful to assess the situation before letting them go free. I'm confused with what you are objecting to? Assuming the boat was in Iranian waters, what did they do that we would not have done? What are you mad about?

It is YOUR OPINION that we would have detained Iranians. I have just given you examples of how the US in the past has NOT detained personnel but escorted them out of our territory.

ASSUMING (and you know what happens when you assume, especially in regards to Obama) the boat was in their waters, why make the incident a HUGE public display? Why apologize in front of the whole world and profess to have been doing any wrong-doing. Clearly this was part of the conditions of their release....conveniently afterwards the Iranians just happen to release the pro-Iranian propaganda photos of the weak, in-the-wrong Americans on their knees before the Iranian might...

ASSUMING the US was definitely in the wrong the Iranians just milked it for all it's worth, making another case of the Obama administration / America under Obama looking weak.
Do you have any idea what is going on in the Middle East?? Iran's Embassy just got missiles fired at it and is considered an enemy by many neighboring countries... are you really suggesting that under those circumstances they should have simply escorted an armed boat of soldiers off to open waters?! Thats crazy!!! I couldn't take a crap at an airport without being watched by a TSA agent following 9/11... Yes its my opinion we would have at the very least detained the boat but it's a pretty educated guess... Is it your Opinion that we would have escorted a loaded boat of Iranians off to open waters?

As for the display, yes they milked it... it's all politics. We are equally guilty of milking the shit out of every story that hits the press... we do this on both sides... we are doing it right now with this thread!

Americans should be asking what the U.S. military was doing in Iranian waters. But instead, most are blaming Iran. My guess is that it was a spy mission of some sort. And that is provocation. The U.S. Government wouldn't tolerate the Iranian military trespassing in its waters. It would treat such action as clear provocation.

Americans need to become more informed about what their Government is doing all around the world. If they do look at it objectively, they'll see that the U.S. Government applies hypocritial double standards to all its actions.

Yes, many Americans are hoping for war with Iran. But Iran shocked em by handling this incident with patience and restraint. I'm not so sure our own Government would handle such a violation the same way.

That's what happenes when you choose an anti-American War Criminal scumbag as SecState

US Navy Sailors Held by Iran Are Released With Their Boats | Military.com

The sailors were within territorial waters. The reason was explained to the Iranians. The Iranians let them go. America thanked them.

Leave it to hacks to find an anti-America reason to whine about it.
Give me the quote where it says the US was within 12nm? As pointed out, Iran considers their territorial waters to be MORE than 12nm, which is the Internationally recognized boundary. (It does NOT state (12nm) that in the article. Fail...but keep those opinions coming.

Right here;
"TEHRAN, Iran -- All 10 U.S. Navy sailors detained by Iran after drifting into its territorial waters a day earlier have been freed, the U.S. and Iran said Wednesday."

Iran's Territorial Sea boundary is 12 nm;
Islamic Republic of Iran, Chapter One, External Limit, Article 2:
"The width of territorial waters is 12 nautical mile from the sea-board. Nautical mile equals to 1852 meters. The islands belonging to Iran whether located in or out of the realm of the territorial waters, subject to the present Law, possesses its own particular territorial waters."

Looks like the FAIL is on your end EasyT!

I know many Americans want more war, but they know not what they wish for. Due to Iran's calm and restraint, horrific war was averted. Let's just stay out of Iran's territory. Let's respect its sovereignty. We don't need more war.
