Agreed, we would not have just blown them to bits but lets be real. We would have detained the soldiers, confiscated the weapons and then vetted their story. It would be idiotic to take the soldiers at their word without verification so we would have been very careful to assess the situation before letting them go free. I'm confused with what you are objecting to? Assuming the boat was in Iranian waters, what did they do that we would not have done? What are you mad about?
It is YOUR OPINION that we would have detained Iranians. I have just given you examples of how the US in the past has NOT detained personnel but escorted them out of our territory.
ASSUMING (and you know what happens when you assume, especially in regards to Obama) the boat was in their waters, why make the incident a HUGE public display? Why apologize in front of the whole world and profess to have been doing any wrong-doing. Clearly this was part of the conditions of their release....conveniently afterwards the Iranians just happen to release the pro-Iranian propaganda photos of the weak, in-the-wrong Americans on their knees before the Iranian might...
ASSUMING the US was definitely in the wrong the Iranians just milked it for all it's worth, making another case of the Obama administration / America under Obama looking weak.
