Merry Christmas!! 😁
They a morality, just not one I share. The Nazis had a morality too.
I take it that you don't know what morality means do you?

Ok.When male lions take over a pride they kill all the cubs so they can father their own. That is nature.
Interesting. When it really comes down to it, my rights come from my ability to prevent others from violating them.
We form alliances with others who share our views. However, when you’re alone in a dark Portland alley, surrounded by Marxists in black, the only one who can protect your rights is you.Interesting.
So, every man for themself?
It just means I wasn’t powerful enough to prevent them from violating the rights I believe I have.If someone does something to you, by overcoming your ability to defend yourself. . . does that mean their rights were greater/ stronger than yours?
I don't disagree on the defense aspect of rights. (I've posted about self-defense several times in this thread already)We form alliances with others who share our views. However, when you’re alone in a dark Portland alley, surrounded by Marxists in black, the only one who can protect your rights is you.
How you perceive your creator/endower of inalienable rights is not my concern. My rights come from the Great Pumpkin. Otherwise known as God or Creator.
I believe they are a product of my own self-awareness, greatly influenced by the environment I was raised in.Where do those rights you just referred to come from?
Again, interesting.I believe they are a product of my own self-awareness, greatly influenced by the environment I was raised in.
It's very interesting in this thread that nobody here wants to go on record as believing that basic human rights are given to people or granted to us by the government.
Again, interesting.
So, using that logic.
Someone in a coma.
Would they have any basic human rights?
Morality come from within. This is true for everyone, even non-religious people.I still haven't found a single person who can tell me where morals come from if not from the Bible. Other than they come out of nowhere.![]()
I loathe debates and discussions on "morality, religion, etc."I find it more interesting that nobody seems to be able to define morality. My phone is getting all wet with all this liberal sweat.![]()
That would be the most likely one.Interesting point, what rights are you talking about here? Life?
iirc, 'one nation under God' was introduced in the mid 50's......In America, our government recognizes God (Creator) as the arbiter of morality.
because then we'd need to trust them Chuz.......It's very interesting in this thread that nobody here wants to go on record as believing that basic human rights are given to people or granted to us by the government.
You start so many threads on everything else. Why don't you start one for that?I find it more interesting that nobody seems to be able to define morality. My phone is getting all wet with all this liberal sweat.![]()
Only those agreed upon by a group of like-minded individuals willing to protect them. So, using that logic.

We are all born with a survival instinct. We fear heights, spiders, etc. Is that the same as a 'right'? I don't think so.Ok.
Do the cubs do anything at all to try to survive or defend themselves?
You seem to see this example of rights not existing at all.
I see it as an example of how easily rights can be ignored, deprived, and violated without adequate recognition and protection. Especially in the animal world.
Right, but if that's where they believe their rights come from (the government), that's what they should indicate in the poll.iirc, 'one nation under God' was introduced in the mid 50's......
because then we'd need to trust them Chuz.......

So, we only have the rights that a majority agrees with and believes we have?Only those agreed upon by a group of like-minded individuals willing to protect them.
Not really. I believe we only truly have the rights that we as individuals have the ability to protect. We can group together to help the weaker elements of the alliance, but, in the end, it’s our personal ability to defend our perceived rights that matters most. Do you disagree? Where do your rights come from? If you don’t have the personal power to defend them, does it even matter if you think you have them? So, we only have the rights that a majority agrees with and believes we have?
