Pentagon authorizes military lawyers to serve as temporary immigration judges

For it to be civil affairs, wouldn't it involve citizens and not be an immigration issue? You seem to have the same problem all of federal judges have in staying in their lane!
You thought immigration was a military matter? Somebody doing computer programming on an H1B, but does not update for a few months, get arrested while at lunch, and it becomes something other than a civil infraction, but now a matter for military lawyers? No.

Try to remember. Military law is to law, as military intelligence is to intelligence.
I am sure these military officers will follow order and not make waves against administration wishes.
The JAG officers are attorneys. They will work under regular illegal alien laws.

How do? You don’t think JAG officers are able to apply the law? Why?
Immigration law is different from what they do.

And they are lawyers. not judges, and military to boot.

They have no training or experience for this.

Which is exactly why they want to use them.

Really not hard for a lawyer to pick it up

Immigration judges are lawyers too. Not sure how being JaG changes being a lawyer either

Of course they do they all passed the bar and went to law school

You have the most vivid imagination for someone with so little intellect.

If they don't update, they get arrested. Where is the problem? That's still an immigration issue and not a civil matter. A cop is not going to arrest them, dumbass! ICE will! They are not looking for visa overstays unless they are a ******* criminal. These people will be handling illegal immigrants, not citizens. Do you not see any difference? If not, you truly are a dumbass!

You were entitled to a military lawyer. Were you required to have a military lawyer. Was the hearing held, at Captain's Mast or other military court? No. It simply was not and indeed, should not have been. What you are saying has absolutely no bearing on civil justice procedures. It does not matter, that he had to pass the Bar and be familiar with civil law. That is not the point. He should not be pulled and reassigned while in uniform as judge over civilian affairs.
That's ^^^^ your objection. Actually the military lawyers are not all that busy----young;, eager, well trained kids with not lots to do. I FULLY support the progrram

Don't kid yourself, they get arrested even if and especially when they update or show up for their hearings.

I swear you have had a stroke. Where did I say anything that conflicts with what you just posted?

They are criminals showing up for hearing and the cops have never notified ICE! ICE is the one arresting them. The case of the judge sneaking them out of the courtroom via a back door to avoid ICE is a perfect example.

You need to see a doctor immediately because your brain isn't working right!

What part did you miss? It is an immigration court hearing, on a docket. Obviously, Immigration knows when immigration hearings come up, without cops having to tell them. Pretty convenient way to bump up the numbers, picking up people showing up for immigration hearings. That gets those non-complying assholes off the streets, picking them up, when they show up to comply with their hearing dates.:auiqs.jpg:

WTF part of they are criminals doesn't make any sense to you? They are not arresting people who just show up for their hearing without them being criminals needing to be deported! Vladamir, who is renewing his visa. is not being deported just because he showed up. He would be deported because he has a criminal record.

What part of DOJ drops case, and then ICE picks them up, for deportation outside the courtroom, they reported to, were you not aware of?

Headline from November 2025....

"Judge Finds That Thousands Were Deported Illegally...."

They dropped the case because they knew he was going to be deported anyway?

The problem is you don't understand that being an illegal and being a criminal for any reason will get your ass deported.

Current trend appears to be dropping cases, so not having to discuss merits of why they are still here, reporting to their immigration court hearings, but having immigration pick them up for deportation, outside the court house. Overall, a pretty good scam, to get people complying, thinking they will advance their case, to show up for hearings, and be easily picked up to enhance pickup numbers. Very efficient, even if underhanded, making it simpler to pick up, and ship to detention center for deportation, no muss, no fuss, picking up the low-hanging fruit for ICE, a guaranteed daily number. Not so great, at getting actual alien criminals, seeking to avoid or evade the law. Of course, we are not focusing on the gang/drug criminals, simply anybody we can get to achieve the numbers.

Who is it, you actually think should be targeted? Dangerous criminals, evading the law, or just anybody that has overstayed their H1B, Student Visa or crop pickers, or do you think, the government should go back to getting violent aliens, endangering our citizens off the street and out of the country?

Overstaying your visa is a crime dumbass! If they stay here illegally, their dumb ass needs to be deported! If they get caught, it is because they obviously screwed up! No ifs, ands or buts!

I swear you get dumber by the minute!

You are just too stupid to get it. Not a crime, but civil infraction, under US Code.

Penalties for overstaying a visa in the U.S. can include civil fines starting at $500, imprisonment for up to six months for first-time offenders, and longer bars on reentry for those who remain unlawfully for extended periods.

I take it, you have never looked it up or been shown before. Or are you guided simply by MAGA zeal? A lot of MAGA are not too favorable to actual law.

The Civil Nature of a Visa Overstay

The act of overstaying a visa is not, by itself, a criminal offense under federal law. Instead, it is classified as a civil violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act. A criminal offense is a public wrong that can result in prosecution, leading to penalties such as imprisonment and a permanent criminal record. A civil violation, in contrast, is an administrative infraction.

Apparently, you don't know the difference in civil fine and crimes. They are the same. You don't lock someone up for 5 months for a "violation".

Can you be deported for overstaying your visa? The answer is yes, so don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out!
