We will see.

There is a huge group of young people who have registered to vote because of Obama.

If they start writing their congress critters something may happen.

I firmly believe pot will someday be decriminalized for personal use. Ask me about my Great Marijuana Compramize sometime.

however, I am in no mood to listen to a goddamn thing Barney Frank has to say after his tryst with child porn.

Which means nothing. There was a huge group of us young people registered to vote when we thought Carter was going to decriminalize pot. We see where THAT went.

It's fun to play with what seems the insurmountable though. But, also the climate surrounding legalization does seem to have shifted just a little to me, really.

If it's all the same to you, though, I'll hang on your sidea the fence, an' not eye the sky for 20-yr olds in capes either. :)

Are these the same young people who were going to "Vote or Die?" for Kerry? At the risk of sounding cynical - I think that Obama is going to bring out more young people than ever before...but nowhere near enough to get an issue like legalized marijuana to be taken seriously.

I fully support decriminalizing Pot, and no I do not smoke it. I just think it makes little sense to spend billions fighting it, and putting people in jail for it. It is clearly not as bad as booze IMO.

who does Not smoke it, yet supports its decriminalization.

The supposed drug war--a failed attempt at best--has only allowed some worse things to bleed in even faster, anyway, IMO. It perpetuates worsening of things already askew. Bad news.

Oh I used to smoke it, but now I am an OVT trucker, and they really frown on it. Regular piss tests. Get in an accident, gotta make pee pee, get a ticket, gotta make pee pee. Hell I even have heard they can pull me over and test me on the spot, though it has not happened to me yet.

Kinda stupid if you ask me, Just because someone has pot in their system does not mean they were driving on it. The shit stays in your fat cells for up to 28 days or so.

I can have a drink but not a joint, where is the logic in that?

We have not even started talking about how much money the government could bring in by regulating and taxing it.

:)

But I'm with you and you get pulled over plenty truckin'. That's why they all try to warn each other about Big Bear coming up ahead.

You have a point on how long it stays in the system; good one and it's always sickened me, the contrast with alcohol, it's beyond reason.

No, we haven't started to branch out yet; I figured we may eventually get there.

There'r other things that bother me about it awful, though, like the fact all these seizures, confiscations go on, seemingly without ever a tally, a show to the people of what's being collected... the numbers go unmentioned. Other unmentioned numbers; how many of our youth are being marked by the system for it now everyday?..

And I posted earlier about Hearst, etc.

Bugs the crap outta me.

I do not support the government regulating hemp.

They'll drive the price up through the roof with taxation, then once there is a viable industry in place, they'll find some way to make the industry pay just like they did tobacco.

Just decriminalize it and forget about it.

25,000,000 american smoke.

They're not criminals, they're citizens.

You're dreaming if you think the government won't regulate marijuana if it's ever legalized. Hell--what DOESN'T the government regulate. You're right about one thing tho--they would love to have that tax money they could rake in.

The legalize then try to regulate the growth and sale of Mariuana, and all they're going to do is create another prohibition complete with revenuers and potshiners.

It's freaking weed, for god's sakes.

Stop giving billions to the mafia (and the cops who love them) and just let Americans grow their own.

I am not so sure the Government regulating and taxing it would raise the price. The price today is artificially high because of the risks involved with transporting and selling it. It is just a plant and cost hundreds of dollars and ounce. Compared to tobacco for instance, that is regulated and taxed by the government and only costs 4 or 5 bucks for 2 ounces in a pack.

this video cracks my shit up.

But that tax money apparently isn't quite as enticing as that bribe, err, kickback money the politicians get from big business for not allowing something such as legalized marijuana to completely ruin their entire industries.

I am wondering what industries you think legal pot will completely ruin. Save for maybe the one that makes it's living off of selling people prescription drugs for depression I can't think of another.

Industrial hemp on the other hand threatens many industries, from Paper, to oil.
