One Of Trump's Unconstitutional EOs Is Being Raked Over the Coals By SCOTUS Tomorrow

I'm calling it here.

5-4 against the government on birthright citizenship

6-3 or 5-4 for the government on nationwide injunctions.

Amy Coney Barrett is the weak link.

I'll take the SC stomping down on national injunctions from District judges.

To me fixing the 14th amendment requires another amendment.

Get rid of anchor babies, and get rid of Morris V Board of Estimates that prevents States from having Senate like legislative bodies.
NY State HAS a Senate. What purpose it serves is a mystery.

There were conscious though that there could be invaders or those here for other reasons than to become Americans and they certainly did not intend that those should become citizens.
Time travel mind reading!

I think you have the gist of it.
Of course, from my point of view..Barrett is a legal genius---LOL!

The poor S.G.--bet he wishes he was on the bench..and not in front of it~

I have the gist of how they will rule, but I won't agree with their ruling on birthright citizenship.

There is a clear legal loophole that courts are afraid to close.

I predict that in the future, states will have to close the loophole themselves and have it come before the court again.

... because Americans won't be so heartless to send her home without the baby ...
Happens all the time. She has the choice to take her baby with her or leave him with a legal resident relative of some sort.

.... And then far too often she has been allowed to bring in her husband if she has one, parents, siblings, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles. And if they can't support themselves the taxpayer does.
...
Nope, nope, and nope. You are just using your imagination.

It's called the Senate, but anticipating Morris they went away from geographical districts to population based districts, same as the Assembly.

I'm saying 7-2 against birthright citizenship

8-1 saying stop with the nationwide injunctions at the district level.

However you want to spin it, do you support citizenship for the offspring of people in the country illegally?
Yes, or no?
The Constitution supports it, and it seems to me that it has been working out pretty well. Babies being born in the US are hardly the crux of our immigration problems. If the government does its job and controls the border, this would be a non-issue. When media reports reference 10 million illegals or whatever the number, they are not talking about 10 million babies.

Yup. I know. Which is why I see no particular purpose served by having a bicameral legislature in NY State.

Frankly, I believe we should (nationally) repeal the 17th Amendment.

An amendment is the only real solution....for those who see the 14th as a problem~

I'm not willing to bet the Roberts court will uphold the Constitution.

I hope they will, but I fear they won't.
Why are Democrats never held to the same standard that they expect Republicans to meet? Obama said that he had a phone and a pen. Someone should have told him that he needed to obey the Constitution. President Trump does not suggest that we ignore the Constitution. We need to interpret it properly. The 14th Amendment was written to apply to former slaves, not to people who sneak into the country.
