NRA sues California officials for closing gun stores amid coronavirus outbreak

In Texas, the AG says gun stores ARE an essential business.

Texas AG says gun stores are essential, should remain open amid pandemic

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton declared Friday in a statement that gun stores should be classified as essential businesses, allowing them to remain open amid shutdowns dozens of counties in the state have imposed on local businesses to stem the spread of coronavirus.

‘"In this time when we all need to sacrifice to flatten the curve and stop this pandemic, it is disturbing that the NRA won't budge from its overriding purpose -- to increase gun industry profits at any cost," Kris Brown, Brady's president, told the network.

"There is no constitutional right to spread coronavirus while shopping, for guns or anything else," she said.’

There’s also no merit to the suit.

Gun resellers are not being singled-out as non-essential, other businesses are likewise subject to such regulation.

The closures are made pursuant to controlling the coronavirus outbreak, having nothing to do with the selling of firearms.

The NRA and other dishonest rightwing organizations and individuals will of course attempt to propagate the lie that such orders are intended to stop the sale of guns.
Just out of curiosity, what authority does any state have to violate the Consitution? Last I looked, the Constitution was supreme over all the states.

Here in colorado, we still have open gun stores but we don't have long lines to get into them
The Post Office here is selling outta PO boxes

One of our local gun shops had to close down, due to the overwhelming influx of outta stater's wanting thier first gun

You need more than a new PO Box in Colorado.

maybe you can get abortion doctors back to work by doing what you said Political lobbying and campaign donations.
Abortion doctors haven't left work, at least not in my State. The clinics where they operate offer many valuable health services and remain open.

False. You are just making stuff up now. Like a child caught in a lie who makes up new lies to try to get out of it.

Do you support banning voting in highly populated urban districts because of the threat of Wuhan virus? After all, would be voters don’t have a right to spread the virus.

So......the government could shut down news rooms and news stations and leave only government controlled emergency broadcasting....declaring news rooms and stations as non essential....right? Since the Emergency Broadcasting system could simply deal with any news needed regarding the virus...right?

We sent the Gunnutters (including more than a 2 million lawsuit that the NRA lost and the gungrabbers to their rooms which we hermetically sealed with duct tape so the Adults could work things out. Sorry, but the laws in Colorado may not work as well in California but we did the first of the Common Sense Gun Regulations. And it works. California could learn from that but you have to understand something. A California Republican would be a Colorado Democrat.

Wrong. The NRA is there to promote Gun Safety in handling and manufacture. The NRA used to do some mighty wonderful safety classes and Public Info work to that affect. That was when I was a member. But sometime in the 70s, a new batch seized control and it became a right wing action group more than a Gun Safety and Education group. The old NRA would NEVER have supported the ARs and AK on the streets. You know them from the Hate. I knew them from the love.

Drive through gun sales is the answer. But, thinking outside the box, stores should consider renting guns. Bubba orders a .357 on the internet, and picks it up an hour later at the drive through. He goes to work, and kills his boss and that SOB who has been ragging him for the last three years. He sanitizes the gun, to make sure that there are no viruses on it, and returns it to the gun store to get his deposit back.

Now, why would anyone need to ban voting at all in today's world? We have mailin voting that works pretty damned good. And that should cover the urban, suburban and the rural areas a well.

Are you looking for a reason to appoint Rump as King? Yes, King Rump.

Other businesses aren't protected by the Bill of Rights.

Where in the bill of rights does it say they are protected? You are allowed to own a gun. Nothing in there about buying one. Forget all that shit though, what about some common sense?
