Agree. Blanco and Nagin WERE NOT republicans but as far as the disaster was concerned state officials were completely overwhelmed as would have been any state officials. National disasters are what they are: NATIONAL. It is both illogical and ignorant to expect state officials to be able to handle devastation on the scale of a national disaster. What was needed was firm action from a carrying president and a competent FEMA director. Sadly, neither were there when needed.
