New Website on the American Civil War

It is obvious from the historical record Lincoln was purposely deceptive about evacuation of Ft Sumter and wanted to maneuver SC into firing the first shot. He succeeded.

This tactic has been used by many US Presidents since Lincoln’s deceit. Amazingly millions of Americans TODAY still believe the South started the war because they fired a few shells at Ft Sumter, in which no one was injured. And, they conclude Lincoln justified in prosecuting that war that caused so much death and destruction.

Exactly right. And equally obvious that the historical record doesn't matter to the shitheads in the North. Don't bother with the truth, just keep feeding and telling those lies. That is why I have said, the War Between The States is the most lied about war ever fought.

And as also said, with all the lies and deception that Seward and the Lincoln administration committed, why, or how in the world could anyone believe them? Answer: you can't. They lied because they are liars.

ya I mean a little slavery is better than none right? You apologists for the south openly support slavery.

Of course I support the institution of slavery created by the United States under our Constitution. Why shouldn't I?

For those who might be interested, I've added an article to my Civil War site. The article is about the Republicans' misguided rejection of the Crittenden Compromise:

Choosing War: The Defeat of a Reasonable Compromise Plan that Could Have Preserved the Union without Bloodshed

The article is only four pages long. So, before anyone attacks it, they should take 5-10 minutes to read it first.

The Crittenden plan gave the Republicans most of what they said wanted regarding slavery in the territories, fugitive slave courts, and the role of federal marshals in apprehending runaway slaves. It would have banned slavery in 66% of the western territories and would have restricted slavey to the area south of the 36-30 Missouri Compromise line, most of which was unsuitable for slave labor. It would have substantially reduced the percentage of territory open to slavery under the Missouri Compromise.

But the Republicans took an all-or-nothing position slavery in the territories, even though very few slaveholders had shown any interest in relocating to the territories (there were fewer than 50 slaves in all the western territories as of 1860).

Even had the Crittenden Compromise passed, why should the South believe that it would be honored? After all, the South had everything concerning slavery that it could want; the Constitution and the Dred Scott Supreme Court decision giving access anywhere in the U.S. to take their property. And yet the North was unwilling to honor that.

Those 'compromises' are what I call a 'Yankee compromise'. The South gets nothing, and the Yankee doesn't get as much as he wanted.

The North couldn't be believed. From them would come the greatest of liars, Abraham Lincoln and William Seward.

I have read numerous books on many wars including the Civil War, you retards and your claims are ignorant and you are openly supporting slavery.
No one has openly supported slavery. You making this claim merely exposes you as a moron. I doubt you’ve ever read book.

Answer the question shithead. Why shouldn't I support slavery as created by the U.S. under the Constitution? Why don't you...traitor?

YOU are a racist and a fool. Anyone that supports human slavery is criminally insane. And you wonder why you are called a white Supremist.

See, you like to make statements but can't answer the questions concerning them. Why shouldn't I support the slavery created by the United States government under the Constitution? Why don't you...traitor?

But slavery was created by the U.S. under the Constitution of 1787. And in 1861 it was still legal and Constitutional. As I said, I support the slavery created by the U.S. under the Constitution of 1787. Why shouldn't I? Do you support the slavery created by the U.S. under that Constitution...traitor?

No, I do not support slavery at all, most people don't support slavery and find it appalling. But you being a white supremist think blacks are subhuman and should be held in slavery, right?

As described in post #(352), the deception and duplicity of the Lincoln administration made it clear to all that war was declared upon the South. And during all this time of lies and deception, the mail was allowed to continue to the Federal force in Sumter under Anderson. No doubt due to the need for Anderson to stay in communication with his government. And the South honored the privacy of the mail in and out of Sumter.

On April 8th Lincolns message was delivered to Governor Pickens of South Carolina. It read, "I am directed by the President of the United States to notify you to expect an attempt will be made to supply Fort Sumter with provisions only, and if such attempt b not resisted no effort to throw in men, arms, or ammunition will be made without further notice, or in case of an attack upon the fort." (The Demon Of Unrest, Erik Larson, Crown Publishing Group, 2024, p. 402)

But, once the deception of Lincoln and Seward was plain with their treatment of the Commissioners, and the message from Lincoln to Gov. Pickens, the mail was stopped. "At eight o'clock that night, after receiving Lincoln's agents, Beauregard sent a brief, stern note to Major Anderson notifying him that all mail service to and from Sumter was now suspended." (Larson, p. 403)

Anderson was very worried upon hearing this. For he had just mailed a reply back to a friend of his in Washington after receiving from Lincoln instructions. "On April 7, he at last received a copy of Lincoln's instructions and learned of his decision to resupply the fort, apparently using a plan devised by Capt. Gustavus Fox. Anderson was shocked. It utterly contradicted his understanding that Sumter would be evacuated." (Larson, p. 399)

This confidential letter Anderson now wrote to his friend on April 8th, concerning this was sent just prior to the mail being stopped. And in it was important information and damning information against the Lincoln administration. To the degree that Anderson told his friend to destroy it after he read it. (Larson, p. 399)

That letter was picked up in the mail before mail service was suspended. Anderson upon learning the mail now was stopped feared what was written in that letter, now in the hands of the enemy. "Alarmed, he wrote to the general asking him, ever so politely, to return all the fort's outgoing mail, which he presumed to be sitting in the Charleston post office. There was valuable intelligence in those letters, Anderson knew, and one damning confession. Beauregard denied his request." (Larson, p. 403)

Lincoln doesn't just deceive his enemies. He deceives any he can to obtain what he wants. Anderson was deceived just like the South was deceived.
