Even if this were true....so what? What's your point?Folks, you're seeing the liberal mind at work in these reflexive summary dismissals of the evidence that at least 4,000 blacks voluntarily fought for the South. Most of these guys appear to have responded without even bothering to read the article.
You're still talking about less than 1% of the Confederate military, even if this were true. But I don't think it is true. I've read all 3 of Shelby Foote's massive books about the Civil War and never came across this.
There were about 2,000 Native Americans who fought for the Confederacy west of the Mississippi River, but if any blacks did I'm sure it was probably a lot fewer than this.
