It's ironic, too, because he really didn't need to do that much. He had already pumped out enough $ to save the stock market and a lot of people/businesses could work from home. Not everyone of course.

He made an initial effort to act Presidential but was unwilling to make hard decisions…..he left those to the Governors

Even that didn't hurt him. In fact that might have been the safe route, politically, and the federal government really can't dominate states like that.

His Super Spreader events were conducted in Red States where everyone told him how great he is.

Where he fucked up was in trying to muzzle his own experts. I can understand wanting to massage the language and even the Biden admin has overruled the most data-driven experts in the field and ignored the science, to be completely honest. But muzzling Birks, Fauci, Redfield...that's where he fucked up. They became 'yes men/women'. The scenes of Trump being combative with people in interviews...that didn't help, not at a time when many people in swing states where burying parents and grandparents.
