Can you imagine how much worse our schools will be with hateful little leftist teachers pressuring their students to vote “D”?
Well maybe for class "officials"........
Not even that. Why teach them to be corrupt politicians in their tender years?
Well...that's only a few degrees more totalitarian than where we are now.

Boedicca, what is your ideal un-socialist government? In terms of government responsibility, what would you like to see? How would roads, bridges, dams, food/drug inspections etc be funded? Would 'eminent domain' be legal? Or military used as police? If you are thinking of powerful iron-fisted leadership over governance that provides military power only, maybe Kim Jong Un is the guy for you. You hate public schools, so what do you suggest? You hate public healthcare, so what do you offer? Do you think those in need should just lay down and die and/or watch their kids suffer because they are too proud to ask for help? In your world, would that help be available?
If you think I am for totalitarianism, you are sorely misguided.
My POV:
The scope of the federal government is national defense, federal law enforcement, foreign relations and border control, and the court system. The Feds should not engage in transfer payment and other redistributionist schemes - that is the moral hazard that has created our present day dysfunctional system (aided and abetted by totalitarian progressives).
The more local things are handled, the more the people directly affected have a say in how their community is SERVED by the government - as opposed to the heavy topdown condition of how we now serve as tax serfs and debt donkeys to the big government status quo.
Road, bridges and most infrastructure would be higher quality and lower cost by being privatized and then supported by use fees and tolls.
Students and parents would be better served by having complete school choice. If Public Schools are crap, they will be replaced by private alternatives.
Many of those in need would not be in need if our economy was not shackled and bled out by government bureaucrats and rentseekers.
