Movies you love, but are not great films.

Predator
Robocop
Evil Dead 2

I doubt any of these would win praise from snobs who call movies "films" but they're great entertainment nonetheless.
I call them films, because that is what they are.
Anyway.... I loved Predator. Atrocious acting, especially Carl Weathers... one of those actors I have no idea how the hell they ever got a single role... but it is an entertaining movie throughout. Too bad the sequels were God awful.

The Burbs....
Before Tom Hanks came to superstar status... he was the king of low budget comedies.
It's just fun. And who doesn't like Bruce Durn?

Small confession. I didn't originally start out as a Conan fan or a Robert E. Howard fan. I have a small collection that I haven't added to in a good 15 years of Vincent D'Onofrio's movies.

I'm what they call a "Vincent Vixen" since about 2001 or so. It was after Criminal Intent started. At some point everyone in the fan club was to meet up here: Robert E. Howard Days
I fully intend to go there at some point.

"Peggy Sue Got Married". It's hard to believe it's a young Nicholas Cage but the movie is well done and entertaining and nostalgic if you are old enough. I like it.

Agreed. He played in a lot of famous westerns, but my favorite role for him was "Silent Running".

In my opinion, Bruce Dern's best performance was in Coming Home, a deeply disturbing story of a paralyzed vet coming home from Nam. I don't recommend it because I found it painful to watch.
