Paul Thomas Anderson and lead star Leonardo DiCaprio, called “One Battle After Another”.

The movie is being hailed by the woke media as a “celebration of modern day Antifa revolutionaries”. Hollywood In Toto says the film “casts an Antifa-style group as its heroes,” while The San Francisco Chronicle described the film, referring to the protagonists as “an allegory that involves antifa-like left wing extremists, a well-funded right wing militia group, and immigrants avoiding ICE.” The Daily Beast called it a “gonzo Antifa rallying cry.”

“One Battle After Another” is flopping hard at the box office. The flick needs around $300 million to break even after marketing costs are included – It has only made $48.5 million globally. Keep in mind, half of all box office revenues go to theaters, the other half goes to distributors. And, a weak opening weekend usually portends a swift decline in ticket sales for the next few weeks after.

Ultimately, the movie is likely to lose hundreds of millions of dollars and probably end up on streaming services in the very near term with little fanfare. Get woke, go broke.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s otherwise excellent track record for dramatic films cannot overcome the intense gravity of the woke black hole. Few if any films escape its cold grasp. This is why it is suicide for content producers to jump onto political bandwagons; the movements they think are popular as usually not, and biases blind the creative process. The foolishness of chasing propaganda should be obvious, but not to the dimwits in Hollywood.

Comment:
I have watched the trailer and it is ambiguous about the plot.
The far left loves this movie.
That should be a warning.
I have read several reviews of "One battle after another"
The movie glorifies Antifa.
The movie is full of radical left paranoia, prejudice, stereotyping and hate.....just like Antifa is.

Oh please, most everybody says the movie is great. Suspension of belief is usually required at movie theaters -- for enjoyment purposes.

Dear Lord......

You really need to take a break from your WOKE attitude.

Everything is WOKE, or Fascist, or propaganda with you.
How you survive the day is curious.

Hard pass …

As I stated immediately after seeing it on the day it was released here a couple of weeks ago:
-Too long by at least half.
-Title should be "One Cliché After Another".
-More than unbelievable plot elements (a 'liberated' young woman 'revolutionary' of the epoch who is not on the pill?), (hyper-military racist releases murdering black terrorist to hold for sex and then let's her escape?), (hero fails to remember password that the audience could almost guess?), and more.
It is always a pleasure to watch DiCaprio and del Toro work, and yet even that falls flat as either too comedic or too serious.
Yes, we are expected to sympathize with groups dedicated to repressing the poor by aiding illegal immigration that takes their jobs and housing. Of course, we have only contempt for the asinine extreme-right bad guys. Again, the film takes advantage of its audience in order to have their "suspension of disbelief" be co-opted.
As someone who is neither 'right' nor 'left' (ok, maybe slightly left of extreme center), I found the film very disappointing and all the enthusiasm expressed for it to be totally biased.

You mean it's a movie about Antifa, which we all know does not exist? Is it in the fantasy genre? :laughing0301:

Antifa the Movie has "bombed". Excuse the pun.

So in other words it is exactly like DiCaprio's other monster woke fest - Don't Look Up?
Throw in a couple of the biggest hollywood stars you can find - in a desperate attempt to mask a catastrophically bad script that isn't actually a movie, but a blatant propaganda ad.

grossed approximately $209 million worldwide. Despite this, the film was considered a box office disappointment, likely losing up to $100 million due to a high estimated $130 million production budget and significant marketing costs.

I'll be honest I tried watching this when I was at someone's house who has Netflix and it immediately felt like I missed the beginning of the movie.

And I remember thinking there better be an amazing ending that makes this all make sense. I never got to the end. I do plan to one day watch the whole thing but as of right now, I just don't get why people liked this movie.

I don't care that Sean Penn got jacked off. So what? The movie sucked. Now I might change my mind after watching it again but I sort of doubt it.

It bothers me why so many people liked this movie. Enough to give it an Oscar? F that.

I watched it till the end because it had so much Oscar hype.
After 20 min I thought …This is stupid

Ridiculous plot, they ask you to root for characters that are just evil, Characters are cartoonish, movie too long

Did I miss something in the beginning that told us what the movie was about? It just seemed like the movie had no beginning. What happened in the beginning that set up the rest of the movie?

I don't care about spoilers. Explain to me what the movie was about and how it ended. What happened in the end?

Terrorists were fighting ICE like agents
Terrorists are killing innocent people and ICE agents are killing the terrorists

Don’t ask me what it was about …..I thought the whole thing was stupid

I heard of One Bottle After Another when it got an Oscar nomination. And then I hadn't heard of One Bottle After Another until this thread.

One Bottle After Another must not be very good.
