I heard of One Bottle After Another when it got an Oscar nomination. And then I hadn't heard of One Bottle After Another until this thread.

One Bottle After Another must not be very good.

One Battle After Another won Best Picture, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Directing, and Best Writing.

So this movie you judged based on what you heard must be very good, right?

I saw the trailer and knew within one minute I had absolutely no interest in this film.

There Will Be Blood and Boogie Nights were really great films, but his track record as a director after those two is real spotty.

In no light is this thing good.
Because it is "free" on HBO we started to watch it to see what this is about.
We made it about the same amount of time as rightwinger - 20 minutes.
1) The acting is terrible.
2) The plot is a movie at a 6th grade level.
3) Sean Penn "hard on" scene is seriously "WTF is happening right now???"
There is literally no part of this movie that is good. Even though I only saw 20 minutes in, any movie with that bad of the first 20 minutes - is not going to get better.

And what is so hilarious is some critics willingness to forego their reputations to say the "hard on" scene - "shows Penn's intense ability to perform" and praising it as if this is some real acting chops.
That is laughable.
