Loved when this story broke few days ago. Women want to have their cake and eat it too and people have been saying for decades that this needed to be implemented. If women want to take advantage of every other right and benefit of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, they most certainly need to be forced to adhere to the same rules as men when it comes to defending those values. Equality isn't a buffet where you can pick and choose the items on your plate. Equality means everyone orders the same meal and gets the same thing. I was watching celebrity boxing on TV several years ago, and the fight was Joey Buttafuoco vs. Chyna.

Buttafuoco is no athlete at all, and Chyna was a world class athlete and champion in her own right. Buttafuoco still won. I don't think there is much point in conscripting broads into the military, the goal is to WIN wars, not show how committed we are to social justice

That would eliminate non citizens and most women who do not register to selective service from voting. The ones that do sign up should not have combat roles though unless they can pass all the same tests as men.

This reminds me of disqualifying "hate speech" from being free speech.

Where, "hate speech" is used to create a second-class citizenship out of the dissidence. We've seen Israel women adapt well to military service, as well as women in America who were recently granted to serve in combat situations.

A compromise and one I support is that every citizen*, between the ages of 16 and 36 provide two years service** to the United States.

* Every citizen mentally and physically capable to serve.

**Only those who serve in combat roles (not necessarily serving in combat) to benefit from the GI Bills; others who may serve domestically or internationally to receive lesser benefits, including extra points on civil service exams for those who wish to continue in government service (local, state or federal).

Why just citizens? Why shouldn't Permanent Residents, Dreamers and Illegals be forced to serve as well? These individuals are required to register for selective service now.

I have a real problem with people being forced into non-military service at the behest of the state, if they haven't been convicted of a crime by 12 angry men. If the nation needs men in the infantry to fight a war in a time of national crisis, that's one thing. But demanding free service and forcing young men to delay their lives to pick litter off the shoulders of our nation's interstates seems a waste.

Now he wasn't a champion in any particular race, he was "all around" in the decathlon with just great times- but not world champion times- for men in the various races and events.

But to this day, if he is recognized as a "woman" for his records, he's the fastest woman of all time on the track.

Men are just a lot stronger than broads, and in a war you need to put best folks on the battlefield.

During that 8 weeks, I’m sure the military will weed out those not fit for combat regardless of gender. It will be a waste of time but I would imagine that given we have so many bases, we won’t be too seriously injured.

As a matter of law, all should register regardless of gender or sex or whatever you want to call it.
As a matter of practicality, a great many females and a lesser number of males who are drafted will not qualify for ground combat.

Uh, guy, they don't peel potatoes anymore. Usually, they serve pre-processed food in the field, and in garrison, it's private contractors.

The thing is, we put draft registration back into place in the 1970's when Jimmy Carter was trying to convince people he had a pair of testicles... and then it became one of these wasteful government programs that no one ever questions.

The modern military doesn't want or need a draft. The last thing they want is to try to train UNWILLING recruits. They have a hard enough time with guys and gals who volunteered to be there and are trying to accomplish something.

If they don't pass the physical then there is that...but they need to all register. There are men who don't make it either. In fact I read something the other week that said only 30 % of Americans are physically qualified for our military today.
