Actually it was a democrat that brought back the selective service system after the Vietnam war. Has been going since 1980.

About time it became automatic.
So in spirit of Equality, DEI, etc. when do women get automatically registered ???

BTW, we should consider changing it ti a form of National Service which might include other civil tasks, environmental restoration (CCC), etc. Make it mandatory, post high school, but the longer one serves, matrix-ed with the difficulty and/or quality of how they service, will reward towards college or trade school tuition afterwards.
