Massive Teachers Union Sues Mom Who Asked About Political Material In Kindergarten Curriculum

What do you call someone making 200 requests for information if not abuse of the system?
Not really, the government has all the power here - the money to process the requests, the power to deny them and the resources to justify it. The deference for getting information should ALWAYS be with the citizen - there is very little that the government should be keeping secrete from us particularly concerning the education system.

That's one example, yes.

See the Democrat Party and the entities it controls for others.

:)
Easy, FIRE every last teacher and administrator and hire replacements. Let them try to threaten us from the unemployment line.

You can’t find teachers to fill all of the jobs that you have now, what makes you think you can fire them all and easily replace them.

Republicans are big on getting rid of people that they don’t like, but they have no idea what they’re going to do without them.

Republicans have no skill to manage anything. The red states have the worst education systems in the United States. Texas can’t even keep the lights on in the air conditioning running.

These are the basic things that government is required to do. Republicans are so caught up in ideology that they’re incapable of dealing with practicality.

Government is about picking up the garbage and keeping the lights on in the roads and bridges in good repair.

Republicans are so busy banning abortions, fighting the nonexistent “war on Christmas” and chasing illegals through the desert at great cost to the taxpayers.

Democrats are about keeping the lights on, and keeping the country running on a sound fiscal footing. Something the Republicans have proven themselves to be utterly incapable of doing.

In the 1970s the republican party fell under the thrall of Milton in Friedman and the Chicago School of Economics.

For generations, the international monetary fund and the World Bank have insisted upon “free market” reforms based on Friedman’s theories, as a condition to loans and funding. This was especially true of South America in the 1970’s.

Republicans are big on pointing to Venezuela as an example of failed leftist policies. But in reality, Venezuela is an example of failed Friedman economic policies, as is most of South America.

Despite three economic crashes in the past 40 years, and the destruction of the American middle class, by Republicans tax and labour policies based on Friedmans radical “capitalism on steroids”, Republicans continue to cling to these failed ideas.

In the meantime, countries which have adopted Keynesian economic policies have a thriving and healthy middle class.

We didn’t lose hundreds of thousand of our citizens to the pandemic because when we get sick we go to the doctor - no copays. We get treated early. It costs less, and saves lives. We also provide retraining for workers displaced by off-shoring and technology.

We don't give big tax breaks to corporations seeking to locate in Canada either. Large corporations are the biggest users of government resources - from needing educated workers, to transportation systems, and intellectual property protections. Yet you fools want them to pay no taxes and no wages either.

You're following second world financial policies, right wing authoritarian anti-democratic policies, designed to support rich white oligarchs, and no one else.

There are privacy laws at work here, and this woman is seeking confidential information she's not entitled to regarding political affiliations of teachers.

Apparently crazy white people who believe the lies Republicans tell them have all kinds of rights that must be protected, and the people that the crazy white people are attacking must lay their entire lives, political affiliations and social history bare to these crazy white people who believe the lies Republicans tell them.

This is the line you've been spouting since the "stop the steal" fraudit started in Arizona. If anyone refuses to play along with any of your insanity, you claim this is proof positive that the "problem" is real and you're being stonewalled.

This bat shit insanity on the part of Republicans will not end well for Republicans.

I'm not a Republican, so I have no idea why you quoted me, but blinded as you are by the dangerous Democrat death cult, you still make a few good points.

Both parties are dangerous criminal gangs, but the Democrats are now a deranged gang of lunatic fascists bent on civil war, and their Big Brotherly control of the public schools a very precarious situation.

There are privacy laws at work here, and this woman is seeking confidential information she's not entitled to regarding political affiliations of teachers.
Irrelevant. If she requests information that she is not allowed to have access to the answer is really simple, deny the request on those grounds. Suing is NOT a proper response to a request of information from your government, period.
Apparently crazy white people who believe the lies Republicans tell them have all kinds of rights that must be protected, and the people that the crazy white people are attacking must lay their entire lives, political affiliations and social history bare to these crazy white people who believe the lies Republicans tell them.
Nothing to do with race. Nothing to do with your silly character attacks.

Everything to do with the basic rights of people to request information from their own damn government without the government threatening them.

Really, the line I have been spouting? What line might that be? I assume you have a link to this baseless character attack as well?

Or are you just flailing with partisan idiocy?

Are you rally going to justify threats as a proper response to a request of information?

The requests included dozens of (often redundant requests) for personal information that is not public.

This woman is a nuisance.

You are terminally ill-informed

The Trump administration has blatantly ignored a Supreme Court ruling telling it to stop dismantling the federal program to protect undocumented immigrants brought here as children. Now — perhaps inevitably — a federal judge says the administration is ignoring another Supreme Court ruling that extends civil rights protections to gay, lesbian and transgender Americans.
This emerging pattern of a White House simply ignoring the high court is dangerous in ways that even congressional Republicans should understand. Yet they persist in their silence.
The Supreme Court in June ruled that the administration hadn’t justified its moves to dismantle the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and ordered it to stop. The program provides two-year renewable reprieves from deportation for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children through no fault of their own, and who meet conditions including finishing school and having no criminal record. Some 650,000 young people are protected under the program, which is strongly supported by both parties.
Despite the court’s ruling, the administration has continued undermining the program, rejecting all new applications and cutting the reprieve period to one year. Whatever position Americans take on the immigration issue, they should be uniformly outraged at any president who simply ignores a Supreme Court ruling. The implications are staggering.

Probably not. Im not educated enough on PA of 74 to say one way or another. The question of should it be is another subject IMO.

As usual we have a fake OP.

The union is suing the school over releasing private documents. This woman looks and sounds like a nutter and has found a right wing nutter group to finance her nonsense.

It sounds like the parent is on a giant fishing expedition to the point of expensive harrassment. Most of those records are protected under privacy laws. Not surprised the OP would omit much of the relevant information.

According to the NEA, this action seeks to temporarily restrain the School Department from releasing any information related to these APRA requests. NEARI said it believes “many of these documents are not public records as defined under APRA and/or fall under APRA’s exclusions and therefore are not subject to disclosure.”

“This includes but is not limited to personal emails, labor relations materials, personnel records, disciplinary records, evaluations, and other records that do not concern the official business of the School Department,” wrote NEARI.

“We are asking the Court to conduct a balancing test to determine whether our members’ privacy rights outweigh the public interest,” said NEARI Deputy Executive Director Jennifer Azevedo. “We believe they do, and those records should either not be disclosed or should be redacted accordingly."

“Multiple APRA requests were made in recent months to the South Kingstown School Department demanding detailed information about specific educators and members in general of NEA South Kingstown, our local NEARI educator affiliate. While NEARI and NEASK support access to public information, the organizations firmly believe in protecting the rights, safety, and privacy of its members and will continue to advocate strongly on their behalf. We look forward to the Court’s declaratory judgment," she added.

“Why does everyone want to sue me just because I requested public documents?” Solas wrote on social media following the filing of the suit.

She did not respond to request for further comment.

Why indeed, you stupid woman. Maybe because you didn't request public documents, you requested things that have nothing to do with what your children are being taught by "certain" teachers. Let me guess which teachers' backgrounds she is questioning?

Education is under the States' jurisdiction, because what a child needed to know growing up to thrive in an agrarian economy in South Carolina in 1776 is not what a child needed to know to grow up and thrive in New York City at that time. The States decide what is taught in their schools, and the States decide which text books are to be used in their schools. Local boards don't set the cirriculum nor do they go searching for text books to support their political biases.

This fiction that the Teachers' Union and their membership are brainwashing American children with "socialist" ideas, and "communist" notions like "global warming", how to fight a pandemic, and even evolutionary science that Republicans have decided not to believe in, are some kind of plot to undermine the USA and turn the country "socialist".

Americans should be more concerned about whether the education system is preparing their children for 21st century jobs in an increasingly global economy, or whether the USA is going to continue to lag behind the rest of the world in technology, infrastructure and health care because of Republican ideology insists that children be taught to be compliant little right wingers, and to hell with science, jobs or the future. What matters is that white people are still running America.

Republicans want to pretend racism no longer exists or colors everything in American society today, even as they try to keep non-whites from voting against Republicans.

Republicans want to pretend global warming doesn't exist as the entire continent is blanketed with smoke from the wild fires, and coastal areas are flooding annually. Both of which are costing your economy billions every single year.

You want to pretend that capitalism has given you the greatest country in the world, as you middle class shrinks, your economy crashes every few years, and life expectancy declines. And as this happens, you blame non-whites and Democrats for the results Reagan's Great Society policies of the past 40 years.

It seems like a massive fishing exercise. I doubt that it will be the last of these. I imagine the union is laying down a marker on this to ensure their members are not persecuted by nutters like this woman. It seems a lot of nonsense over kids who will basically be taught to play nice for a couple of years.

But judging by the yahoo reaction on here it plays well with people who can barely read so we will see a lot of this.

In a brazen attempt to intimidate American citizens in an effort to stop opposition against to Marxist Extremists indoctrinating our children as early as in Kindergarten, 'The National Education Association has sued a mother in Rhode Island who asked what her daughter would be taught in her kindergarten classroom.'

“This brazen and unprecedented act of intimidation by the NEA will not stand,” said the Goldwater Institute’s Director of National Litigation Jon Riches, who is representing Solas. “Nicole Solas is entitled to know what her daughter’s school is teaching in the classroom. She’s entitled to ask questions. And she does not deserve to face legal action just for asking questions any concerned parent would ask.”

YES, parents have the right to know what Marxist-government-funded/run public schools are teaching our children AND to have a say in their education.

"Nicole had emailed the principal of her child’s school in the South Kingstown School District asking for the kindergarten curriculum and whether it would include teaching the young kids politically charged materials, such as lessons influenced by critical race theory and gender theory. Solas “immediately faced stonewalling from the school, and even a threat of legal action for asking too many questions,” according to the Goldwater Institute. “Ultimately, Nicole received a bill for $74,000 to fulfill a public records request filed by the Goldwater Institute on her behalf in July.”

Now Solas is up against the NEA, which the Goldwater Institute calls a “veritable goliath” that “represents over 2.3 million people nationwide” and has “a budget of over $300 million.”

“The NEA is so determined to push its political agenda that they are willing to expose themselves in a court of law for who they really are: an association of bullies eager to challenge a stay-at-home mom who simply wanted to know what her daughter would be taught,”

“This lawsuit won’t deter me from asking questions, and I encourage all parents to do the same, so that they are empowered to make informed decisions regarding their children’s education.”
- Solas

Massive intimidation to force parents to sit down & STFU, to let the govt do with your child as they wish....the extremists are at war with the American people, attempting to squash all resistance.

Yep, another discord troll. I use to think that you were someone who honestly misunderstood what you were reading. Perhaps just someone that wasn't that smart (which is okay, education, experience, examples of other people, dealing with life's problems, young, it take a lot of work.) I have since revised this. We've got national political groups proliferating propaganda. We've got global political groups passing off propaganda.

And you are running low on material so you folk are duplicating each other.

Same $#!t, different post.

This unfortunately disturbed woman has already cost the taxpayers $74,000 is wasted time spent retrieving her documents from over 200 requests. She's suffering from some sort of manic episode or is just mentally disturbed. Like Don Quixote, out on a quest to slay her imaginary dragons by attacking windmills.

Yeah, go away. You aren't going to get anywhere. The ideas are stupid. Everyone catches on after a while.

Here is the court document.

After 200 requests that were honored by the school, she's had plenty of time to find whatever info she is looking for and it's not there. She's after the Critical Race Theory Boogyman.

Sorry, but crazy people don't have some right to waste everyone else's time.

The Constitution of the United States of America does not say, "..life, liberty, and the pursuit of every crazy adrenaline fueled idea that comes across my mind."

Thanks for that emotional opinion, snowflake.

"The National Education Association of Rhode Island -- and South Kingstown — has sued the South Kingstown School Committee, along with the School Department — and parent Nicole Solas — over Solas’ filing of what they said were “about 200” Access to Public Records Act requests."

From what I have read it is legal to request Public Records.

'It was the South Kingstown School Committee that first considered suing Solas for her requests questioning critical race theory.'

"According to the NEA,
this action seeks to temporarily restrain the School Department from releasing any information related to these APRA requests. NEARI said it believesmany of these documents are not public records"

Since CRT is under siege all over the country, the unions have made it clear they do not believe it is a parent's right to know what is being taught to their kids in school, I am sure they don't think these are or chould be public records.

'Transparency' to them is a bad thing.

You don't have a right to know what time everyone gets to work and what type of toilet paper they use. That isn't what "transparency" means.

For you stupid Moon Bats anybody opposing a Marxist agenda is a "nutter".

Then we wonder why education in the US fell from first in the world to the gutter.

The Teacher's Union has become a greedy left Wing cash cow for the filthy Democrats. No wonder anybody that can afford it will send their kids to private schools.

There is no "Marxist" agenda, moonflake.

And?

Deny the requests. Simple.

They follow the law. The law requires that they respond to the requests. They need to have a judge give them the authority to deny the requests. So far, they have responded to over 200 at a cost of over $75,000 in wasted time. The judge will give them the authority to

I get it, you have the "I can do whatever I want" mentality. It doesn't work that way. Not in the history of the human race has it ever worked that way. Unless you are Ted Kaczynski, living in a shack in the middle of a National Forest, you don't get to do whatever you want whenever you want to. Oh, that's right, neither could he. He crossed the line when he started mailing bombs to people.

Are you able to string more than one idea together to form a coherent idea?
