Graham got schooled in the Senate, lost his cool, and got his knuckles rapped with a ruler.

Graham submitted an amendment to repeal a tax on foreign oil. Hassen wanted to strike provisions from the bill, which requires 60 votes - which Democrats did not have.

So Hassen and tbe orher 49 Democrats (50 needed to pass) voted down Graham's amendment.

Hassen then plagiarized the amendment, stripped out the provisions she did not like, and resubmitted it as her own.

Graham claimed Hassan "is trying to strike the provisions that she just voted against, but it requires 60 votes. So she can vote for repealing a gas tax she just voted against so she'll look good for the voters. If you really wanted to repeal the gas tax, the new one indexed to inflation, you should have voted for my amendment."

He's right- that's exactly what the Democrats did.

Graham got mad, lost his head, and accused Hassan of being "deceitful," saying "this gives phony and cynical a bad name," and adding, "we're going to call you out."

Graham was out-maneuvered and did not get credit for the amendment (without what he wanted in it).

THE IDEA THAT A POLITICIAN CAN GET A WARNING FOR CALLING ANOTHER POLITICIAN 'DECEITFUL' IS HILARIOUS. A POLITICIAN BY DEFINITION IS DECEITFUL, A LIAR, A THIEF, AND A CON ARTIST.

:p

There are existing protocols, however, established that prevent a politician from speaking directly to another politician.

"The senators are reminded to address each other through the chair and in the third person."

"And to be mindful of Rule 19," Murphy said, which states that "no senator in debate shall, directly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to another senator or to other senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a senator."

So in debate, even if warranted / true, a Senator can not stand up and call another Senator a lying, thieving sack of shit.

LOL

As for Graham, Democrats, holding the majority, out-maneuvered him and got what they wanted, using his original bill as the blueprint, leaving him empty handed...and he received the Warning.

Suck it up, buttercup. Learn from it - tomorrow is another day.

:p

Are you saying the Senate was only doing business as usual?

No he is saying Democrats are gaming the system as usual to jam through what they want while they still can.
No one gamed the system. Dems have control of the Senate. They followed the rules.

Lindsey is just being sad and petty.

And he's right....but sadly the Senate Decorum Rules are rigged where you can't actually call a fellow scumbag a scumbag on the floor.

Could you imagine how entertaining it would be if Senators had the ability to call each other out without limited speech or rules....

...or maybe how much more effective / efficient the Senate would be if politicians could still challenge each other to duels... :p

Lindsey Graham will never get the stink off his breath from Trump's yuuuuuuge ass.

"B....b....but Truuuuuuuuump!'

YOU are the biggest Trump ass-hugger on this board. In a thread that has nothing to do with Trump you STILL have to try to insert him in anywhere.

Good grief, freak - get some professional help ... or at least obey the rules of the board.

There are House and Senate rules of decorum.

Graham violated them.

If they were not in place Republicans would be getting excoriated

Deal with it Giant
