Liz '24???

It does not matter if Trump decides to run in 2024 or not to Cheney won't get the Republican nomination and now that she has served her role as the lefts useful idiot they have no more use for her. Politically she is pretty much persona non grata the best she can hope for now is contributor job on CNN or MSNBC.
If the GOP is to survive, they will eventually have to disavow trump, and those who lead that movement will become very powerful, very quickly. Cheney thought that time would come sooner rather than later, and took a stand too soon.

If the Republican Party were to disavow the 74 million Little Trumpsters, they don't stand the chance of a snowball in you know where.

Of course, if the GOP only seeks to be a minority party of respectability and an impotent debating society, it would probably be a good idea to expel the hoi polloi from their party.

It's obvious the GOP doesn't care about respectability, and their increased emphesis on incompetent and just plain goofy candidates like Hershal Walker, won't serve them well in the long run.

No.

Despised by conservatives because of her warranted opposition to Trump, opposed by Democrats because she’s comprehensively wrong on the issues, Cheney’s pollical career is over – at least for the short-term.
Let's see if Trump can run a campaign from cellblock 45 in a federal prison. Or maybe they can convert Mar A Lago into a lockup & they can toss Trump & his whole crew like Rudy in there. If they're lucky they can get a view of the ocean albeit between steel bars.

Mr. Walker is a tremendous candidate, I've seen him on TV and he sounds sharp to me.

But IMHO, the goal of the GOP should be Victory and vanquishing the libs, not "respectability" or impotency in actually implementing policy.

Little point in having a party that just sits around whining about issues like reducing taxes and getting rid of Gay Marriage.

People want to see a plan to actually implement policies, not just complain about liberal malfeasance.

The way I remember it, voters vote for the nominee. Has that changed?
That's how it was on the old days. 2020 changed EVERYTHING. the world doesn't trust democrats anymore when it comes to elections. Democrat controlled voting machine algorithms, 2am ballot box swapping, and dead people's votes are how it goes down these days.

Hershal "we have too many trees" Walker? Obviously, you like all MAGAs care more about your party than you do about the country.

Methinks you need a brush up on how it works. There are primaries and voters vote for the nominee they want. The party convention is just a formality to formally announce who the voters had voted for, even though everyone already knows that anyway.

No, the parties can run primaries anyway they want, and they often use "special delegates" to simply pick whomever they want. That is why primaries have to be done away with. There is no "official" form to primaries, and often the worst are selected. Like when Hillary was selected over Bernie.
Bernie could easily have beaten Trump according to the polls.

That's all true. But its also why the GOP Establishment is interested in Trump getting officially DQ'ed from the 2024 race because of all the Fake Legal problems they and the Democrats are giving him.
Yes, the D.C. elite politicians literally hate Trump. He threatens their lucrative little fifedoms.

Yeah well, the 'polls' had Trump losing in 2016 so......There is that.

Sorry, I am far left, progressive, liberal, but Trump really was about average.
He did not start any wars, did not imprison millions of people like Biden did with his 1994 Federal Crime Bill.
And he did not add trillions to the deficit like Obama had to and Biden did just for fun.

While I would still normally dislike Trump just due to his SCOTUS picks, the problem is the DNC.
The 2 ridiculous impeachements, and so called "Insurrection", are just insane and criminal attempts to slander Trump, to the point it has totally and completely destroyed any possible shred of credibility the DNC once had.

Once you look at how Trump has been abused and slandered, it forces any normal person to sympathize instead. All these impeachements, insurrection trials, etc. are just treason.

The polls are based on general popularity, but a smart candidate realized we have an electoral college instead, so they campaign in all the small states and not the big ones like CA and NY.
Hillary just goofed and went with only the big states because they had more people.

Actually, Mrs. Clinton avoided the big states like CA and NY, which helped her numbers there. She concentrated on battleground states like OH , FL and PA.

Staying away from states made voters there more likely to vote for her

Can you name a Republican who was made the nominee who did not win the most delegates in the state primary process?
