Zone1 Let's examine "racism"

Well, it is true the fact that blacks commit such a disproportionate amount of violent crime is exacerbating a negative attitude. Since crime is correlated with poverty, and poverty is correlated with out-of-wedlock births (which is shamefully high among blacks), this problem could be largely reduced by delaying childbirth until after marriage, and when at least one of the parents is gainful,y employed.
Crime produces poverty --not vice versa.

Studies have proved it.....look at the rural areas where poverty is high....the appalachians, the ozarks etc.

High poverty areas but low crime.

Crime is the cause of poverty in urban areas in that individuals and communities victimized by crime have more difficulty breaking out of poverty. Most poor people are honest citizens whose opportunities for advancement are stunted by the drug dealers, muggers, and other criminals who terrorize their neighborhoods.

Very few of them have sense enough to understand that and those that do lack the discipline required to do the right thing.

Some people feel that if the amount of violent crime in this country were to plunge to very low numbers, "racism" would quickly fade away.
That is a big if....especially since it is getting more and more rampant.

Young black males who compose approx. 2.5 percent of the total popuation committ over half of all violent crimes in America.

I don't think it is as clear as that, I suspect crime and poverty drive each other. Also the more densly populated areas are, the more social behavior starts to break down which increases violent. Poor rural areas have their share of crime. They are the worst hit by the opiod epidemic.

That is something that people simply do not discuss openly.

It is too horrifying.

And, yes, hurtful to ethnicity X.

There is simply no solution.

This nation is in decline.

It cannot be saved, in my opinion.

I am afraid you are right.

The solution is to wait until marriage children, and even then….only when at least one of the parents is gainfully employed. The poverty rate would drop, and along with it, the crime rate.

Of course, stating the obvious gets one called a racist.

'In 1984, this groundbreaking book presented a chilling profile of the criminal mind that shattered long-held myths about the sources of and cures for crime. Now, with the benefit of twenty years' worth of additional knowledge and insight, Stanton Samenow offers a completely updated edition of his classic work, including fresh perceptions into crimes in the spotlight today, from stalking and domestic violence to white-collar crime and political terrorism.

Dr. Samenow's three decades of working with criminals have reaffirmed his argument that factors such as poverty, divorce, and media violence do not cause criminality. Rather, as Samenow documents here, all criminals share a particular mind-set--often evident in childhood--that is disturbingly different from that of a responsible citizen.

While new types of crime have grown more prevalent, or at least more visible to the public eye--from spousal abuse to school shootings--little has changed in terms of our approach to dealing with crime. Rehabilitation programs based on the assumption that society is more to blame for crime than the criminal, an assumption for which a causal link has yet to be established, have proved to be grossly inadequate. Crime continues to invade every aspect of our lives, criminal court dockets and prisons are oppressively overcrowded and expensive, and recidivism rates continue to escalate.

To embark on a truly corrective program, we must begin with the clear understanding that the criminal chooses crime; he chooses to reject society long before society rejects him. The criminal values people only to the extent that he can use them for his own self-serving ends; he does not justify his actions to himself. Only by "habilitating" the criminal, so that he sees himself realistically and develops responsible patterns of thought, can we change his behavior.

It is vital that we know who the criminal is and how and why he acts differently from responsible citizens. From that understanding can come reasonable, compassionate, and effective solutions.'

Unfortunately society refuses to identify the problem and way too many academics, politicians, corporate heads etc. do not even know what the problem is as in they are too isolated from the real world to know what is happening.

That is chilling. What attributes did he say are part of the “criminal mindset” - and what do we do about it? Certainly eliminating cash bail, as is being done by liberal mayors and puts the criminal back in the street, isn’t the answer. As we’ve seen in the couple of years, going soft on criminals just emboldens them.

Same as yours.

She is a human being with a right to express her opinion.
I didn't ask about her right to an opinion, which is true, the same as mine. I asked her what her credentials are.

I know the internet may seem like "the real world" however in most places IRL in order to speak with authority and have people accept your hypothesis and conclusions, most people have credentials or something to which they can point that shows they have acquired some knowledge of the subject matter.

MaryL constantly posts threads complaining about how racism in America isn't real, can't be proven, etc. At this point I'm not sure if she believes it ever existed, so I would like to know what credentials she has earned which make her an authority on this matter.

That's all. And no she doesn't posses the same credentials as myself.

Ah, yes - your "CREDENTIALS", otherwise known as skin color

No, she does not share your skin color.

She said in another thread that she works in HR. Those are her credentials.

I OTOH worked in Higher Ed admissions, and saw firsthand the racism against whites and Asians and in favor blacks. It was so extreme it was ridiculous. (And it’s not just my personal experience….the stats bear it out.)

Many are finally becoming aware of the ridiculous status of blacks being promoted or favored just because of their skin color.....can anyone say reverse discrimination

We need a new government office.....called The dept. of common sense where ridiculous race b.s. could be sent for evaluation.

can you imagine being a white person working in a situation where somebody like her was in charge of HR?
Unfortunately, companies are specifically hiring blacks for the HR Department as part of their “diversity” goals to grant jobs and promotions to blacks over whites, even when they are not the best qualified.

It is still most apparent in higher Ed admissions, if only because there are actual metrics.
