"It makes us a rogue state,"

Trump's Iran threats alarm war crimes experts

Donald Trump risks turning America into a "rogue state," a former U.S. ambassador for war crimes issues warned Wednesday after the president threatened to bomb power stations and desalination plants in Iran.

Stephen J. Rapp, who served as U.S. ambassador-at-large for war crimes issues from 2009 to 2015, said he was disturbed by Trump's threats to Iran if it does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz and agree to end the war the United States and Israel launched a month ago.

"It makes us a rogue state," said Rapp, who served as chief of prosecutions at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda from 2001 to 2007 and the chief prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone from 2007 to 2009. He and two other experts in international law who spoke to NBC News said Trump's threats alone could represent a possible war crime.

To be honest, even someone as cynical as me didn't think trump would choose to commit more war crimes and extend the war. Or at least threaten to commit them. Especially since Iran has telegraphed its response. To retaliate by bombing the energy infrastructure of its neighbor countries. Which is why WTI crude is up almost 10% to nearly $110 a barrel. That and a continued blockade of the Strait.

Was he concerned a daily source of entertainment would end?

At a time like this we would all do well to remember congressional R's voted to allow trump the latitude to do this when then voted against the Iran War Powers resolution.

Republican-led House declines to constrain Trump's war in Iran, just as Senate did

Maybe they didn't think he would be this recklessly stupid either.

He has no respect for the UN, wants to pull the US out of NATO, has the US withdrawn from the Paris accords, withdrew from the JCPOA, violated international law, and imposed indefensible tariffs on nearly every country on the planet. We were already a rogue nation before he did this. Choosing to extend his war of choice only makes it worse.

I lacked enough imagination to envision where we are at and I shudder at what else there is beyond imagination that will materialize.

And again, it's not just Trump; Republicans are just as responsible for Trump’s war crimes.
What war crimes like preventing a religious fanatic regime from having nuclear weapons. Is that what you support. Homicidal fanatics with weapons of mass destruction

If you love NATO and Iran so much more than the United States you are welcome to move there and **** off
Also if you people start agitating for a "humanitarian intervention" in the United States to overthrow the twice duly-elected President of the United States I'm going to start reporting you people to the proper authorities to face justice for your treasonous behavior.

The rogue actions of this regime should not be thought of as being limited to its actions in international affairs like war crimes. It has gone rogue domestically as well in more ways that one can count. From the illegal deportations denying due process to deportees, the daily violation of the Epstein File Transparency Act to, the hideously corrupt, unwarranted pardons, the appointments of US Attorneys to facilitate the prosecution of political enemies, ICE's violations of court orders, it's been overwhelming.

The US was a rouge state in Vietnam and Iraq.
