Interesting perspective. As a child, I viewed the crucifix as a symbol of strength - it was simple to me.

As an adult, I view the cross not as a symbol of dea th but as the burden we carry as human beings - in striving to lead balanced, well adjusted lives - in a world that can challenge those concepts on a daily basis - "carrying the cross".
