Kentucky wants to ban junk food from SNAP (food stamps)

So should flavored drinks with no sugar or seeetener be banned?

How about ice tea?

Are hot dogs healthy? Should they be banned?

How about bologna ( just bigger hot dogs)

How about sliced ham with all those nitrates?

You guys really want to pick winners and losers here huh?
Wouldn't it be simpler to just take certain items OFF the snap list?

NO pop or packaged drinks, candy or packaged snacks.

Bullshit!

The government's nutrition advice causes very serious health issues already. I'm speaking as a professional nutritionist and physical trainer. I've trained champions and record breakers. I know what I'm talking about.

You sure do have a lot of faith in corrupt deep state bureaucrats.
My view has nothing to do with faith in bureaucrats. I don’t give a shit what you do for a living. It has no bearing on my position.

If government is providing you with basically a debit card to purchase food to feed herself and your family , it should be confined product other than junk food and crap that causes more health problems the taxpayers need to take care of.

How very NAZI of you to dictate what can be bought. Didn't you people go batshit crazy when the state of New York tried to limit sugar in soft drinks????
You can buy whatever you want with your own earnings.

The government should not ever dictate what the people eat. That is some Orwellian shit there.

Why are you like the ONLY person who gets it?

The question is not whether the needy should be applying for SNAP; SNAP is there to help the truly needy.

The question is not whether they should have to give up smoking, watching TV and breathing. If you strip a person of the most basic privileges just to get a little food, how will they ever climb out of poverty when you are pushing them deeper INTO it?!

The question is not even whether they should only be eating kelp and celery juice, or be able to give their kids a treat for dinner.

The ONLY REAL QUESTION HERE is whether you really want to give the power to the government to be controlling what people can and cannot eat in a society that was founded on limiting government and individual liberty.

Because every little power you give government only grows bigger with each passing year.

The real issue here is using SNAP to help people get back on their feet so that public assistance does not become a way of life and reserved only for those who need it the most.

When others are paying for it, they can put conditions and limitations about what can be purchased.

But others pay for everything. Every service by government is paid for by others. Some welfare people paid taxes all their lives before they lost their job, where is their say?

I pay highways taxes so you can drive, therefore, I should have a say in what car you can drive.

We need to cut down that big car you drive to this so you stop tearing up the highways I pay for.

So then I guess you oppose the ban on the purchase of alcohol and tobacco?

Should they be able to purchase a meal in a restaurant?

How about vitamins, dietary supplements and non food items like personal hygiene and cleaning supplies?

I support staying true to the edicts upon which this country was based: limited government.
It is not for me to say whether anyone should smoke or drink, any more than it should be their say whether I smoke or drink.
Frankly, either way, a person on SNAP gets whatever they qualify for. How they choose to spend it does not change the amount of benefit. There are much bigger things to worry about than trying to micromanage people's lives in ways which make no difference to anyone else.

Should they be able to purchase a meal in a restaurant?
Probably if they want. I mean, they gotta eat too, right? Or do you want them eating cold macaroni out of a can too? People don't find jobs sitting at home. Maybe if they are out and about, they might find work.

How about vitamins, dietary supplements and non food items like personal hygiene and cleaning supplies?
That is a bit more complex, but all people need hygiene and cleaning supplies, right?
Or would you also have them living in filth and wallow?

If you want to eat your way into diabetes, heart or kidney disease it should not be encouraged by government.

Food industry lobbying.

Why they didn't want RFK
I heard RFK wants to put whole milk back in school lunches after the Obama administration banned it in favor of low fat milk.

Most of the nutrients in milk are in the milkfat. Then the dairy industry takes the nutritious fat they removed from the milk and uses it to make butter, ghee, pastries, cosmetics etc, etc..

But they get the same price for the low fat milk as they do for the whole milk. It's a scam. They get to sell it twice.
