Zone1 Jehovah's Witnesses

if you believe in Jesus, you have to believe in the scriptures The scriptures state Jesus had a physical resurrection
Luke 24:36-39 with a body of flesh and bones
his ascension verse 51
Acts 1:11 is the best
Where did He go? If you you don't know, why not admit it?

He ascended back to heaven, and no one knows where heaven is
Jehovah witnesses don't believe that this is the start of the first resurrection. They merely believe these were thrown out into the streets because of the earthquake but the timeline of the verse don't allow that interpretation

Matthew 27:50-53 records, “And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.”

We need a section for Occult threads like this one .

Out of genuine interest I attended one of their Churches for about six months .
Lovely people , though the speaking in tongues and falling over and twitching sometimes drove me to emergency coughing fits .

The portion of your comment that I bolded in red is a complete fabrication on your part. That type of behavior is considered demonic by Jehovah's Witnesses. Scripture makes it clear that speaking in tongues ended with the death of Jesus's last apostle. Not only that, when people spoke in tongues in the Bible, they spoke in languages that people around them could understand.

"Speaking in tongues" in which nobody knows what the person is saying is one of the behaviors of Pentacostals. Something tells me you most likely ended up at a Pentacostal service. I can guarantee you won't find that type of behavior at any Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

To JWs, that would be Jehovah. They believe Jehovah is the Father and that Jesus is not the Son of God or in other words, a God as well. Yet, the bible is clear that Jesus said he is the Son of God and also a God as well. That would make JWs not Christians. At least LDS believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and part of the Godhead of the three, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. LDS baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. JWs do not.
Cougarbear:

I don't know where you're getting that from. It's false.

Wrong again, Cougarbear.

I'm curious as to where you're getting this false information about Jehovah's Witnesses.

they will come to your house for personal bible study, although i actually went to theirs. anyways, they have books & publications that back up their beliefs with scripture. they believe in the OT as well as the NT & after a year, you need to decide if you want to continue or they wish you well. the 144,000 are the seats in gov'ment ' up there ' & they are called/ referred to as the annointed when the rapture comes. the only holiday they observe is not 'easter' but jesus rising.
playtime:

That is incorrect. Jehovah's Witnesses observe the DEATH, not the rising of Jesus Christ. They do this once yearly, on the day within a given year that corresponds with Nissan 14 (the day on the Jewish calendar when Jesus died).

Jesus commanded his followers to observe his death, NOT his resurrection, because it was his death and shed blood that repurchased sinful mankind from Adamic sin and death.

Luke 22:19

Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body, which is to be given in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”

Luke 22:20

Also, he did the same with the cup after they had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood, which is to be poured out in your behalf.

You can make statements but you do so without being specific. State where I'm in error.

Such an incomplete religion. The resurrection is also part of the atonement. What good is the atonement if the repentant to rise again. What is the purpose of Christ's atonement in the garden of Gethsemane or his death if you don't rise again from the grave? The dead remain dead in their sins. False doctrine for sure. Isaiah 26:19, "Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead."

The JW's do not believe Jesus Christ is God. They believe he's the arc angel Michael. Therefore, they do not baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. LDS do. Here is the LDS baptismal prayer, After stating the person's name, "Having been commissioned by Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Amen."

You have to excuse Luiza. She occasionally gets lost as she responds all over the place. LDS and JW's do agree with the understanding of speaking in tongues. However, because we are the restored Church of the Lord's Church in the Meridian of Times, we now have Apostles once again who have passed down the keys of the Priesthood to the Saints today that also gives the gift of the Holy Ghost to understand others of different languages when necessary.

Cougarbear:

You can't be serious. I called you out on the false statement you made at post 25 in this thread. I quoted you exactly and went so far as to bold and redden the words I was calling you out on. Below once again are your own words, which are patently false.

To JWs, that would be Jehovah. They believe Jehovah is the Father and that Jesus is not the Son of God or in other words, a God as well. Jehovah's Witnesses celebrate the death of Jesus Christ every single year on the date that is equivalent to the Jewish calendar date of Nissan 14, the day Jesus Christ was executed. They do so in obedience to Jesus Christ's command that his DEATH be commemorated on a yearly basis.

Luke 22:8

"so Jesus sent Peter and John, saying: “Go and get the Passover ready for us to eat.”

Luke 22:19

Also, he [Jesus] took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body, which is to be given in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”

Luke 22:20

Also, he did the same with the cup after they had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood, which is to be poured out in your behalf.

Jehovah's Witnesses are the only people who take that command serious. In that command by Jesus, shortly before his death by execution, he instructed his followers to celebrate his death. Most of those within Christendom's 41,000+ denominations do the exact opposite: they celebrate his birth with the pagan celebration of Christmas, which was copied from the pagan Roman feast called the Saturnalia.

When it isn't Christmas, the supposed birthday of Christ (despite the fact Jesus was not born on December 25) the majority of those in Christendom--as well as non-Christians who join in the fun--celebrate Easter. Easter is supposed to be a celebration of Jesus' resurrection from the dead, which he never commanded anyone to celebrate. Never mind that Easter is nothing more than another pagan celebration copied from the goddess of fertility--with all the trimmings such as the easter egg hunt and rabbits (since rabbits are known to breed in great numbers).

Every single prayer that Jehovah's Witnesses make to the Almighty God, they end it with: "In the name of Jesus Christ," or similar words in which Jesus Christ is acknowledged. Why so? Because they know perfectly well that sinful humans cannot approach Jehovah in prayer directly. Jesus Christ is considered the model for all Christians to follow.

So, again, your claim: "JWs . . . believe Jehovah is the Father and that Jesus is not the Son of God..." is fallacious.

I am not a Jehovah's Witness, but I agree with most of their beliefs. What is it that causes many people to exclude them from Christianity?
Their cult beliefs.

After all that, you never explained why JWs believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Catholics have their reasons even if they aren’t completely correct on the process. Mainstream Christians are similar but not as specific. LDS are direct on the reasons why we believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
1. Our souls are literal spirit children of our Heavenly Father (and Mother). Our intelligence was placed in our spirit bodies that look like our physical bodies only of a much finer material. Because of this, we are sons and daughters of Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ is a spirit son of the Father. That is why we believe we are all brothers and sisters in the Lord. Not just figuratively.
2. Christians seem to believe the Holy Ghost somehow magically impregnated Mary. Now, this isn’t written cannonized doctrine of the LDS Church. But many of us believe through the medical skill of the Holy Ghost, he took a sperm if the Father and placed it into the egg of Mary. So we reject that the Father had sex with Mary. In vitro fertilization. Because of this, Jesus Christ is also the physical Son of God.
So, no mystic or supernatural stuff the rest of you go by.
Now, why do JWs believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Visit the weblink below, and maybe you will begin to understand how importance Jesus Christ is, based on the scriptures. That weblink will answer many of your questions.

It’s your goal post. I asked you for your answer. And, after you realize my answer is correct, you are now changing the subject. See, you replied that JWs do say he’s the Son of God. So, I then asked you why you do? And you this ways. Come on, why do JWs believe Jesus is the Son of God if he isn’t a God?

Jesus is not God he is the son of God.

15th post
What does that mean, exactly? I have always felt that the concept of the Trinity was invented to gloss over this question.
there is no single entity the three are separate beings. One is God one is the son of God and the third is a force that executes functions for God.

I debunked your false claims at Post 90 where I quoted Jesus himself, while providing Bible book, chapter and verse.

At Post 93, I provided you with a weblink to the website that will provide further evidence for why Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus is the son of Almighty God Jehovah.

Cougarbear:

There you go with another of your false claims about Jehovah's Witnesses.

The prehuman Jesus started off as an angel. Angels are considered to be gods because they are powerful beings. In fact, scripture refers to angels as gods.

Even humans in positions of power (judges, kings, etc.) are considered to be gods. Only Jehovah the Father is referred to as Almighty God.
