How does one study JW's for a year? Is there a class on that?

they will come to your house for personal bible study, although i actually went to theirs. anyways, they have books & publications that back up their beliefs with scripture. they believe in the OT as well as the NT & after a year, you need to decide if you want to continue or they wish you well. the 144,000 are the seats in gov'ment ' up there ' & they are called/ referred to as the annointed when the rapture comes. the only holiday they observe is not 'easter' but jesus rising.

I've invited them into my house before. Just never heard of anyone "dating" them for a year. I invited the LDS into my home before too. I found the LDS and JW theologies to be lacking. Whereas with the Catholic Church I found most of their theology made sense. There's only a few theological and social positions I disagree with, but I don't let politics interfere with my faith. I've also studied all of the other major religions; Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Daoism, Islam, etc. I find evangelicals to be as exhausting as the JW's and the LDS.

It was sort of a joke because a year long relationship ain't for nothing.

it's not. i never really had any intentions of it going anywhere - things i obviously disagreed with them on - but i was inquisitive about learning the bible. i grew up RC & catechism classes were a joke.

I'm not asking about the classes. I'm asking about this:

The classes are only one part of the education. The actual Catechism is way more comprehensive and informative.

I can't say I got a lot out of the classes but I didn't get nothing from them either. It probably had more to do with my youthfulness than the classes. It wasn't until I was 34 that I began my journey of enlightenment. And it wasn't until I was in my mid-fifties that I made peace. It's been amazing ever since.

i'm not into structured religion, but consider myself open to spirituality. i believe in angels, & have been visited by them as well.

Don't worry. I'm not going to evangelize you.

J Ws sure do believe that jesus is the son of God.
Is he God or just another prophet? He is part of the Godhead and when Jesus proclaimed to be the Son of God, he said he is the Lord God of Israel. JWs do not believe the concept of the Son of God as Christians do.

Jesus said that "many would come in his name and deceive many". The true church is "spirit led", not led by a single denomination.
The Church has to not teach false doctrines and must have His authority. So, it does have to be led by a single denomination.

So, anyone called to repentance and faith must be directed by God to the LDS church otherwise their calling is false?
