Why do Democrats always attack the victims of sexual assault by their politicians. Mary Jo Kopechne got the same treatment.
Did she? I don't recall any Democrat saying anything bad about the poor woman. It was Republicans who speculated endlessly on her having an affair with Kennedy.
As for attacking Victims, let's not forget you guys went after Anita Hill and Susan Blassy Ford. So I won't take your high horse very seriously.
If I'm falsely accused that publicly, I'm not going to make a guilty move like paying the accuser off. No man who leads so many would admit to something he didn't do when accused by a person who lacks credibility.
Actually, let's review, because you clearly don't have a good legal mind.
April 1st, 1998, Judge Susan Weber Wright dismissed Paula Jones' lawsuit as having no merit because Jones could not show any economic damage from Clinton's action, as clinton was not her supervisor and no action was taken against her professionally. She just realized she wasn't going to get promoted to head possum catcher and quit.
On April 22nd, the Supreme Court ruled in
Ellerth v. Burlington that merely creating a hostile work environment was enough to constitute sexual harassment. This gave Jones' lawyer an avenue to appeal the case. But a slim one. The cost of litigating it would take years AND would cost millions of dollars (The Clintons were already 10 million in debt from legal fees from various RW witch hunts), So they could either settle with Jones or appeal, probably winning but still spending millions.
Clinton had nothing left to prove, now all he was doing was settling a nusicence lawsuit. Once Jones dropped her demand for an admission and an apology, that's really kind of all it took.
The judge that sided with the sexual harrasser was Susan Webber Wright. Look her up and you'll see why she did it.
Um, yeah, because Jones had no case under the law. That's why she did it.
Even if you get past the legal issue of a "He-said, She-said", it didn't constitute sexual harassment. Jones didn't work for the Governor's office. She was not demoted, denied opportunities, etc.
The worst thing she claimed happened to her is that they put her down the hall, but that's because she spent half her day gossiping with the other workers.
