It seems so long ago, I had almost forgotten.

As is his want, he spoke about human dignity, mutual respect, the democratic ideals that bind us, and the values we share as Americans. In so doing I was reminded of what this country was and aspired to be. Something from which we are on what I hope is only a brief hiatus, but worry we are not. What a contrast from our current situation.

Unfortunately, it also brought back memories of how much he was loathed. And in some circles still is. Despite the impeccably civil, ethical, contemplative, mature, forward thinking nature of his presidency. We sure could use some of that right now.

I watched a few minutes yesterday. Intelligent, mature, articulate, principled, dignified, clear, focused, empathetic. I could only watch so much of that, knowing that so much of the country considers those qualities to be signs of weakness. Or evil. Or something.

The BLACKS in the Chicago neighborhood the center is being built in ARE PISSED OFF.

I did not realize Big Mike has such a strong lisp.

As I watched the highlights from the ceremony I was was struck by this thought. How could the same country elect both Obama and trump within a few short years?

With the exception of your Vegetable Messiah, the worst and most corrupt President in history.

Because the USA realized what a mistake is was to elect the clusterfuck Barry Hussein.

Clean, articulate half black guy reads words good.

Winner-take-all tribalism. Not exactly what the Founders had in mind.
Really? WTF did the Founders have in mind? The winner share half the office with the loser?

Dumbass.

Biden pinched the nipple of an 8 year old girl on international TV.

Are we the country that elected Obama or the one that elected trump? Or something in between?

He is a great speaker but after 8 years of watching and listening to this man, the people realized the talk didn't line up with the results.

I never loathed him, I believe he was extremely naive, he made promises he couldn’t keep, didn’t prosecute bankers for the housing debacle, didn’t repeal the Bush tax cuts on day one, like he promised, didn’t close Gitmo as promised. Wasn’t transparent as promised. He was always trying to divide Americans.

However he is no better or worse, than Bush, Trump or Biden, just another below average president. Reagan, Bush Sr. and Clinton were better presidents.
