In light of the Texas church massacre I want to head off the gun control debate with a few facts.

Move along. Nothing to see here. This is the cost of doing business in modern America.

Factor in this:

We will be told, after we are told that this is not the time to debate gun control but a time to grieve for the victims, that no law designed by man could have prevented this. This attitude assumes that until a perfect solution is found, no solutions n should be explored.

The shooter was a "law abiding citizen who had an uninfringible right to own battlefield weaponry. He was a law abiding citizen, right up to the point he pulled the trigger.

We saw dozens of first and second graders mowed down in their school and did nothing. Why, oh why should we do anything now?

Accept it and move on. That's exactly what the NRA wants us to do.

At least what early reports are telling us is that the gunman died at the hands of the neighbor who shot him. Don't know how reliable this report is; first reports seldom are. But what if that neighbor wasn't allowed to have a firearm? That clown could have went to another public venue and did the same thing.

Wont happen

This kind of horror is acceptable risk to live in America

-Geaux
I disagree on both points.

If you approach a conversation level headed & keep your emotions in check you can have a civil discussion. You set the tone with your input.

It is NOT an acceptable risk.

Sure it is. That's why we live h7 ere and not move away to say Europe or Austrailia

-Geaux
They won't accept you in in those places, dupe. This is just what you get after 35 years of the new b******* GOP ruining the country... The ruin of the middle class and the country and guns everywhere mainly handguns and assault rifles with plenty of conversion kits to make them basically automatic. Great idea, dupes...
Debt from socialist entitlement programs and political correctness/affirmative-action have already ruined this country dumbass

If the neighbor would have been prohibited his gun, why would the shooter have his own?

We have sown the seeds of high power firearms. Now we must reap the whirlwind.

Frivolous gun control laws are like putting a Band-Aid on a broken arm, it may look like you’re doing something but you’re not doing jack shit… Just making things much worse.
This country has much bigger fish to fry

Criminals never buy firearms legally…

In six weeks time we have suffered 80 citizens dead in two high profile mass shootings. There is no bigger fish to fry. Your ossified attitude is that as there's is no 'perfection' there should be no effort.

And what is our bigger fish? My guess is you'll say Hillary.

For the same reason convicted felons have firearms for their crimes today. Criminals will get guns no matter what laws are created. All laws do is stop good people from getting firearms. The criminals will always have them. THAT'S WHY THEY ARE CRIMINALS!!!!!

1. The only thing that would cut down on this kind of shit is a complete gun ban coordinated with a confiscation program.
1a. That is a literal impossiility for two reasons. The constitution & there are more guns in the wild than citizens.

2. Criminals DO NOT OBEY LAWS.

3.People who go into some kind of rage based on emotions DO NOT THINK THEIR ACTIONS THROUGH.

4. Focus your anger/outrage where it can actually have a positive outcome. Our problems do not stem from the gun, they stem from the human condition and all the complications that go with it.

5. Remember point number 1.
The best argument against gun control here, is that it’s waaaay too ******* late for it. Over 400 million guns here, easier for a criminal to get a gun than anywhere else in the world... might as well arm yourself.
You generally only have to worry about violent crime in progressive controlled areas of the county....

Blue is where there are people. Red is where people can go their entire lives and never run into another human being.

I don't know how old you are or if you have an understanding of history, but do you remember what they called a Saturday Night Special? Those were cheap, concealable handguns used by criminals. But today we have high capacity magazines and semi-automatic firing systems. Those make guns more dangerous than ever.

But there is a generation raised on Rambo movies and they seem to think battlefield weapons are cool and should be available to the public. And that's the root of our gun culture and the reason for our current string of tragedies.

There is a tired meme uttered by these gun loving, Rambo worshippers and that is "a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun".

March 31, 1981. Four men are grievously wounded on the streets of Washington, D.C. Two of those men were armed. Another suffered a head wound and was rendered parapalegic. The fourth was surrounded by the best armed, best trained cadre of security personnel in history and was serving as President of the United States. None of those guns prevented the assassin in his shooting.

Good guys with guns.

Red is where most of the firearms in the country are... And yes people kill people not firearms

Good guys with guns.

So who said a good guy with a gun is a guarantee to stop a bad guy with a gun? Nobody. They said the "only way" to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun; no guarantee offered.

In this particular instance, it's reported that a church neighbor used some kind of AR weapon to shoot the killer. He chased after the attacker when he left. The story is still unclear, but do you think anybody would have done the same heroic thing in anti-gun California or New York? Of course not, the hero probably would have been arrested and convicted.

Do I have an understanding of history, of course I do. And history shows that until the Ferguson effect kicked in, our violent and gun crime has been on a constant decrease since the mid 90's. That's proportional with the amount of CCW permits issued and states that decided to create laws that protect the victim instead of the criminal.

that dont stop illegal guns
Is that the best deflection you can do?
Did the shooter use an illegal gun?

Usually leftards want to propose anti constitutional nonsense.
Shirley it's time to change the Constitution. Then no one will be able to moan 'it's anti Constitutional' while waiting for the next one.

Events like this are good business for the NRA.

We will never see a real solution to gun violence in this country as long as we allow companies and organizations to influence our politicians through financial donations.

As long as we allow the NRA to buy our politicians off we will never do anything about this. Ever.

So where does the NRA get their money from? That's right, citizens who support their organization.

Welcome to the real world of politics. The NRA is no different than the countless unions that contribute to the Democrat party, the many environmental organizations that contribute to the Democrat party, the millions that trial lawyers contribute to the Democrat party.
