I'm having a discussion with another poster about sex education

I'm an old man, school was another lifetime ago. Today's kids need all the help they can get and that's what education is it helps, ignorance does not.
I too am and old man, with lots of valuable experience.

You are the exception to the rule, good for you guys. When I was growing up none of us had " the talk ", and sex education didn't exist to speak of.
My father would have cut his throat before he would have a serious conversation with me about anything. :(

Parents only present limited information. The schools have (or should have) all of the information, and are (or should be) proficient in presenting it.
I learned in 3rd grade after speaking with my friends. It just happened? IDK?

Girls likely knew before my wife spoke w/ them
Yes but what if one of your daughters was a lesbian where would she get that information from you I heterosexual couple I don't think so that's why sex education in school is so important.

Good for you. Living usually has that effect. Teenagers haven't lived very much, yet they think they know it all but they don't; they need a lot of guidance that's why they're not called adults.

I think the hardest thing the schools face is convincing the kids that abstinence is actually a valid choice, and that there's nothing mentally or socially wrong with them if they do abstain. In fact they may have given up on teaching this option altogether.

I don't think alternative lifestyles, homosexuality, trans sexuality and other deviant behaviors are appropriate for elementary education. The 3 Rs and STEAM are what should be taught in grades one through 6. After that, sexual biology should be presented. What is next--teaching murder because no one talks about it in the home? Deviant lifestyles have no place in education.

Sex education does not belong in schools. The decision of what and how much sex education is not a school's job. Some school's are teaching 4th grade boys about getting fisted by an adult male.

My mother taught me all about sex and was very liberal with my reading material. I read Fanny Hill at 9 years. Her solution to all of the difficulties presented by a teen age girl was to marry me off to someone. Anyone. At 13 I selected my first lover. I was married at 15 and married again by 16. I learned that sex is an ideal weapon something all girls should learn. Maybe in school.

I wonder if the kids are taught about the employment opportunities resulting from premarital sex, in the fields of medicine, social welfare, law enforcement, counselling, adjudication, psychology, psychiatry, advocacy, etc.

I think most educators deem those 'alternate' lifestyles to be legitimate.

Internet porn has replaced both parents and teachers.

Nope. It's every parent's duty to take their son to a bordello when he reaches the age of 16. That way he won't learn to be a gay cross-dreeser like they teach in school.

Not really sure how to handle the daughter's education though.

Same way

Schools are buildings. You mean teachers. And therein lies the problem. Not all teachers are the same. Tough call.
No single person is the same as any other of course there's variation but it's the best solution. No one wants more teenage pregnancies and parents would never want their children to have venereal diseases. And although many parents May Wonder if their child is different, I'm sure they don't know whether they should ask or not. So all those issues go unaddressed.
