Whether the Ukrainians, Chinese or anyone else was solid access to those documents is not known at the time. It is possible that all of the moneys funneled through Hunter to Joe by foreigners was for nothing more than access to the VP and whatever influence he had. Chinese are especially noted for being willing to pay big for just an occasional meeting. Even if they get nothing in return it “puts powder on their face,” i.e., makes them look influencial to their trading partners.

You can still get special treatment by claiming to be part of a groups - like trannies - that are currently being given special treatment.
