Y'all know the statute of limitations is 5 years for federal crimes unless specifically specified as something other.

The leak occurred in 2017, meaning the a longer SOL would have to apply and this doens't appear to be on the list of those that qualify.

This is the same charge that had the Trump illegally appointed prosecutor bring which was dropped. Because the case was dropped, the week the statute of limitation ran out and was dropped before trial, the DOJ is given an extension of 6 months to bring those charges again.....from what I read.....

And to get around the 2017 SOL date, they are using a date that he testified before Congress on it, years later.

That is not the goal. Payback is the rule of the day in this case. I don't think the vast majority of conservatives think he will be convicted either, but lawfare such as this is sauce for the goose!

It simply makes Trump's DOJ appear crooked and unreliable and abusive and unjust to the public. It weakens the DOJ.

I don't have one ounce of sympathy for them, any of them. They have gone after Trump nonstop for ten years for many things, including trying to take Trump off the ballot, and 99% of all of their lawfare has not worked. They even impeached Trump twice, knowing both times that the Senate would not remove Trump. But, they impeached anyway. So, if Trump goes after them, knowing that many of the cases won't work, I don't care. The precedent has already been set by the lawfare democrats.
