Zone1 If Morality Doesn't Come From God Then Where Does It Come From?

Wasn't your argument something about it being genetic and evolutionary?
No. The opposite. I said it was NOT genetic, and therefore NOT evolutionary.

I'm saying it promotes survival and the success of the community, but that doesn't mean its an evolved characteristic.

Oh, my mistake then.

You have to prove that.
Okay.

What would some of that evidence look like, in your estimation?

I mean, anormal person would see that it is an abstract concept, by the definition of abstract concepts. A normal person would also see that other animals dont deal in abstract concepts, so we know it wasnt invented and defined by another animal.

So i am curious what woild compel you, as these reasons do not.

Also, you are now tasked with describing an alternative idea, of you reject mine.

If it's not an abstract concept defined by humans, what is it? A unicorn in the 7th dimension? A magical palace in heaven named morality? A ride at Disney World?

What your saying is that its mutation which doesn't hold water.
False. I didnt state or imply that. Please form points against things I actually say, thanks. Otherwise, you dont need a message board. Only a mirror.

You have no balls, or you would have gave a decent rreply.

No, the morality difference was your claim.

Why are you so stupid compared to 4 year olds?

Similar type of question.

Now, I will wait for your balls to drop. Then you can answer your own question.

This question came up in another topic and I wanted to turn it into a debate because I'm curious what people have to say about this. This question is for atheists and agnostics. How do we know what's right and wrong without the Bible? How does the government decide what's right and wrong without the Bible? Where does morality come from without the Bible?

I promised myself I would talk less about religion.

But here goes.

I know what's right and wrong by how I treat my fellow person. It's called "having a sense of empathy". My rough edges here aside (and I know I throw a lot of rhetorical elbows), IRL, I try to treat people the way I would want to be treated. Hell, I'm even polite to telemarketers. Yes, this was a message Jesus had, but it predates him.

I don't need a bible to tell me not to murder someone. I know that would be wrong. That person has people that care about him and (unless they were an immediate threat) they pose no harm to me.

I wouldn't cheat on my wife, not because I would offend some being in the sky, but because it would hurt my wife's feelings.

Conversely, so many truly evil things have been done in history in the name of religion. Crusades, Jihads, Inquisitions, burning witches.

So let's take something you consider evil, homosexuality. I have no desire to have sex with a person of the same gender. It's just not something I'm into. But do I think it's morally wrong? Nope. Some people are just wired differently, and if they aren't hurting anyone, it's really none of my business.

Let me ask you all a question. Hypothetically speaking, if the government said that murder and theft are now legal would it suddenly become moral?

You're the one who asked me in the first place dummy. So where did life begin?

Good gawd, you're truly delusional on what you are thinking of other people

First of all, government isn't society and doesn't define morality. Second, it's certainly possible for a society to adopt bad morals - rules that don't actually promote to their success. The proof is in the pudding. If a government legalized murder and theft, I suspect that country wouldn't last long. What do you think?
