Zone1 If Morality Doesn't Come From God Then Where Does It Come From?

And they got more knowledgeable. They figured things out, They worked together. Without morality, that wouldnt have happened.

That doesn't have anything to do with morality though.

You do know morality existed before the Bible? Or you're ignorant of some facts?

Morality existed before the Bible but not before God.

Without morality, that would have never happened. Morality was a crucial evolutionary step for our species to thrive.
Morality existed before the Bible but not before God.
People have only known about your god for a few thousand years. Well, they knew almost ALL of the stories of the bible, but not your god.
Morality predates your god by thousands of years.

Not really correct. I would say that the inherent ability to create moral values exited in early mankind. Why would we have that before it was needed or used? That supports a creator of some type

I dont agree.

I have an idea, but I also know there is no scientific evidence or proof of any god
Or that there is no god. Before you make a fool out of yourself and claim a negative cant be proven yes it can. Negative correlation, null hypothesis, evidence to the contrary.

This question came up in another topic and I wanted to turn it into a debate because I'm curious what people have to say about this. This question is for atheists and agnostics. How do we know what's right and wrong without the Bible? How does the government decide what's right and wrong without the Bible? Where does morality come from without the Bible?
"Morality" is the reflection of the values of that culture. A lot of it is just common sense, when people have to live together they need some rules to get along but things like matriarchal vs patriarchal are just traditions. Anthropologists have studied cultures and found just about every kind of morality you can think of.

If you view the Bible in its historical context, you see that it too reflects the society of that era and evolved as society evolved.

Then support your point if you can. Explain how we can have a dormant ability before its needed.
200k year old humans didnt have morality. Or nothing like we know today. Thats why it took 170 or so thousand years to develop societies. Then we got where we are in the blink of an eye.

If hunting and gathering was so easy, why do we have societies? Why do we have agriculture?
We lived in an environment that was the least difficult. Early man was hunter gatherer because game was abundant and hunting was easy. They had a lot of leisure time. Life was good. Then formsome unkniwn reason many of the large animals died off.
Without a steady supply of food farming started

Evidence for the earliest farming includes the domestication of wild plants like einkorn wheat and barley in the Fertile Crescent starting around 11,700 to 9,500 BCE, the presence of larger seeds and non-shattering plants indicating human selection, and the development of farming tools like grinding stones and sickles. Archaeological sites, such as Shubayqa 1 and Tell Abu Hureyra, show evidence of early bread making and intentional cultivation of rye, as well as the appearance of Neolithic villages with evidence of settled life and food processing.

You cant develop a trait thats not already in the human genome to begin with. There has to be a moral gene. Where id it come from. How did it get there

Simple. It's an abstract concept created by the human mind that is under constant revision.

Where did your morality come from, ChristisKing ?

Chiefly, it came from the genetic accident of where and when you were born.

You have to prove that. What your saying is that its mutation which doesn't hold water. It has to be universal. Its not abstract its concrete. Your mind cant make it unless its in the DNA in the first place

Take the American Indians who practiced slavery, massacres, unimaginable cruelty, theft all as perfectly moral but had their own code of 'ethics' in deference to their chief, fellow tribe members etc. Introduction of Spanish Catholicism in the 15th and 16th centuries definitely had its downsides, but it also definitely changed the "Indian" culture to one far more 'civilized' as we would define that.

Modern anthropologists believe there are an estimated 100 or so isolated cultures, uninfluenced by any others, remaining on Earth. I would guess that the sense of 'morality' among those isolated cultures would be very different than those cultures with much or some JudeoChristian influence.
This is a topic not normally part of my repertoire, so I am learning on the fly.
