I was there: My perspective on bowe bergdahl

you just blindly trust the people that made that decision because you have been conditioned believe everything the government says when the government is operated by people who hold your views

I cautiously trust those people until I learn otherwise. Journalists are pursuing the truth. I cautiously trusted Bush - until I learned he was lying.

After 6 years you haven't learned that Obama is lying?

Damn, you are stupid.

LaKoota would not know.....you have to ask questions to find that out....."cautiously trusting" aint good enough.....

What do our soldiers think about Bush lying to the entire world to start a war that the US designed to never end and torturing POWs like we're the Viet Cong?

Someone should ask them.

They don't give a ****. Soldiers fight for the guy in the next foxhole, not for the POTUS, or the CONUS, or for the good ole' USA. They fight for the guy they know...right next to them. When one of them deserts, they neither forget, nor forgive.

Thats if he did desert. Even if he did, good on him. Who wants to be in a war based on lies. Thought the Yanks would learn from Viet nam...but, nope....

The war in Afghanistan is a bogus war because the CIA trained the Mujaheddin in guerrilla tactics learned from studying the Viet Cong. The plan was to create a Vietnam-style quagmire for the USSR to drain resources and morale as long as the occupation lasted.

Russia invaded Afghanistan in 1979 and withdrew in defeat ten years later. The US is now 13 years in Afghanistan and no closer to victory than the Soviets were. Why? Because the CIA trained the Mujaheddin to fight a prolonged guerrilla war against a more powerful invading force.

The war was lost in 1979.

we have been bit on the ass by many people we thought would be our "friends" after helping them.....so now that we got that out of the way.....now were you one of the 10% who felt we should not have gone into Afghanistan?......what should we have done?.....shake our fists at them and say..."darn it you guys....stop it!".....

If he did indeed desert (and all the troops feel he did) then he placed their lives in immediate danger, so no...that's not "good on him". There are better ways to pull yourself out of that situation that have no possible chance to endanger the soldiers you serve with.

Abu Ghraib was soldiers committing crimes you idiot. what did bush lie about?
I was there in Baghdad when that stuff happened; THE ONLY LIES were you left-wing losers trying to say Bush ordered all that

ur a joke
Yes, they actually think Bush called the prison and ordered the torture.

There's an old Russian Saying- the fish rots at the head.

If these guys at Abu Grahib thought torturing prisoners was an okay thing to do, it was largely because you had a command structure that told them it was acceptable.

Clearly, we lost the Iraq War at Abu Grahib. After that, the Iraqis weren't interested in anything we had to offer.

I WAS THERE: MY PERSPECTIVE ON BOWE BERGDAHL
A few days ago, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel took the stage at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan and excitedly started with what he thought would be a big applause line. “We got him back!” he exclaimed.

Silence.

Not. Even. One. Clap.

Numerous White House leaks show that Obama and his team were convinced that Americans would greet the news of a returning POW with elation; that this would be the great moment in Obama’s second term. This shows just how clueless they are about the military. Let me clue them in.

You see, when Hagel took the stage, he expected joy at the announcement that one of their own was returned! However, you have to see inside a soldier’s mind to understand what was going on here. I believe I can provide a little insight.

When a soldier deserts his post, when he writes that he is ashamed to be an American, when he gives the enemy secrets (and he did), he is no longer “one of us”. He is a traitor. He is not a brother-in-arms.

Soldiers risk their lives for each other every day on the battlefield, there is a trust and respect they have for each other. For Bowe Bergdahl to break that trust and the Secretary of Defense to announce a hero’s welcome instead of a court-martial is a huge let-down.

He isn't one of their own. He is one of them. He is the enemy.

That's not something to celebrate.

The message the White House is sending is that they value treason more than honorable service.

And does that blog article have a video, perchance, to prove that there was not even one bit of applause when Hagel spoke and reportedly said "We got him back"?

And are you aware of US-military regulations regarding comportment of officers and enlisted personnel during a dignitary's visit, esp. a speech?

You do realize that every one of these kind of ceremonies is recorded, right?

Just throwing you a life-line, there...

Hint: I've seen the video.

Not saying he should be left behind. He should be brought home to face justice.

But trading him for 5 high-level terrorists, WHO HAVE ALREADY SAID THEY'RE GOING TO GO BACK TO KILL AMERICANS AND AFGHANIS, is colossally stupid.

We've had these guys for 12 years and oddly, never charged them with a crime.

some of them even tried to switch sides during our invasion.

Prosecutor says trial for 5 traded Taliban hard to do

Brig. Gen. Mark Martins said he concurred with a study conducted a few years ago that found prosecutors were unlikely to win convictions against about 200 detainees, including the five traded for Bergdahl. Republicans such as Sen. John McCain, of Arizona, have derided the swap, saying it will put U.S. troops at risk.

"I concluded there was not a successful prosecution to be made," Martins said.

Sunday's announcement indicates that the five Taliban probably would have to be released when, and if, the detention center here closes down, a pledge made by President Obama. Martins made the determination, he said, after reviewing the findings of the study and the files of each man.

So let's put this in perspective.

Republicans were all calling for Bergdahl's release. Until the Black Guy Did It.

It's one of those cases were Obama just can't win. He gets yelled at because he didn't get Bergdahl out and then he gets yelled at for getting him out.

I'd like to ask questions like how did a misfit like Bergdahl who washed out of COAST GUARD basic training get picked up by the Army?

Oh, that answer is easy:

It's all Obama's fault, of course.

Geezus H. Kryst, at least wait for the final mental/physical examinations/evaluations before rending your G.I. Joe bullshit analysis. I also have serious doubts that you were there...
Hey, moron, the author of the article was there. I didn't say I was.

And let it be noted that the mindless drones in the White House who cast aspersions on Bergdahl's fellow Soldiers weren't there, either -- but you mindlessly and unquestioningly believed them, didn't you?

I'm not believing anyone until all the final reports are disclosed. Bergdahl is a combat soldier who is innocent until proven otherwise. No rush to judgement...

BTW, where is the link to your OP?
Liberal saying "no rush to judgment"is laughable.

The final reports are somewhat delayed. Apparently The White House is still analyzing the polling so is having trouble directing what those reports are to say.

dont think you will be hearing to much about that for some time

The Constitution needs to be strictly adhered to and if the people of the great nation of America move to change that document in any way, they must follow the processes set forth in our representative government to change that document. If those processes are not acceptable, then there are processes to change them as well.

And then vote the bums out when they fail to follow due process.

Bergdahl is just one in a long line of POTUS manipulations of how the US practices legislation and coupling of the two houses.

Oh, right. That President Obama decoupled.

first you are an idiot!
Second, you are a liar!
Third, nobody with half a brain believes a word you say!

The bolded: spot-on.

For this reason, the possibility for constitutional amendments.

Coupling and Decoupling? Hmmmm....
