I was there: My perspective on bowe bergdahl

33tpld0.jpg

The Pentagon didn't know shit in 2010 - mainly because it didn't have Bergdahl's input.
So the only relevant evidence is his testimony?

No.

Why do you hate soldiers? Isn't Bergdahl innocent or at least given the benefit of doubt until proven otherwise? Why your big rush to judgement?

He lost that benefit when he walked away from his post. If you like I can post a link to Article 86 of the UCMJ that describes what he did exactly, and doesn't allow for deciding that you are tired of being in the Army as an excuse. In fact, it make absolutely no provision for a defense, which is why the lawyers who drafted the UCMJ said that it was the one article that allowed no defense. Not that there haven't been successful defenses against the charge, like being in the middle of a natural disaster that made it impossible to get to where you were supposed to be, but they are extremely rare. Want to post a hypothetical explanation of why he walked away that would satisfy the requirement that events were totally out of his control, because mental illness doesn't count.

Geezus H. Kryst, at least wait for the final mental/physical examinations/evaluations before rending your G.I. Joe bullshit analysis. I also have serious doubts that you were there...
My apologies, Lakhota. I forgot to post the link. I've edited the OP.

Again, I'm sorry.
Well, we have one Texan's word for what happened, for what that's worth.

Actually, what we have is one Texan's explanation for a reaction that is pretty widely reported, but thanks for proving you live under a rock.

You support Obama releasing those bastards?

Not at all surprising, really.

Yes, I support releasing them because people with much better information than you and I have access to made the decision based on various criteria that we don't know.

you just blindly trust the people that made that decision because you have been conditioned believe everything the government says when the government is operated by people who hold your views

Lakoota is another one who does not question his party, but has plenty of questions for the other guys...

Here's what I got from the article - he wasn't "there"

he was near there. as a contractor - or as i like to call them, a piece of shit mercenary.

and he doesn't offer any new insight or evidence, he just offers his two cents based on the exact same information that everyone else has.

so why is his obviously partisan opinion worth anything again?
every guy who actually was there may have an opinion that you would call partisan.....so are their opinions worthless too?....

Opinions are like assholes - everybody has one. You're entitled to yours...

That was funny.

The criteria was that the Taliban demanded the release of 6 people, and Obama responded with a deal of the release of all six in exchange for a peace treaty with the government of Afghanistan and the release of Bergdahl. The Taliban said no, one guy died, and they got the five that were left alive.

Feel free to point out anything I missed.

Because it pisses assholes like you off.

I cautiously trust those people until I learn otherwise. Journalists are pursuing the truth. I cautiously trusted Bush - until I learned he was lying.

After 6 years you haven't learned that Obama is lying?

Damn, you are stupid.

Who was the last President to not lie? Washington?

I can understand why he felt ashamed to be an American. He was fighting a bogus war.

How was the war in Afghanistan bogus?

You didn't need to be there.

sure we did.....if those fuckers would have flown 2 planes into the Eureka Tower instead of the trade center....would your govt have gone into Afghanistan to get them?.....and guess what?.....this Country and the UK would be there with you....

no. but why are we putting stock in a gun for hire who claims to have been there, but then wasn't? did he know bergdahl? nope. was he even on that base? nope. does he offer anything other than what is clearly a partisan view void of new information, new insight, or anything but talking points? nope.

this man's opinion on this subject is worth no more than my own, but i'm not trying to trump up my opinion into something it's not by claiming to have 'been there'

Bergdahl so far as we know was not dealing with anything that the other solider's he was serving with were dealing with and they didn't walk off there post Bergdahl may not be a villain but neither is he a hero and this administration should have and it seems like did know this before portraying him as one.

with the exception of one person saying once that he served with honor and distinction what gives you the impression anyone is calling him a hero?

The fact that that one person was briefed on what to say by the White House, and the fact that she also said he was captured on the battlefield.

Any other stupid questions?

That they had gotten back a solider who had heroically survived five years in Taliban captivity sure seemed to be the line the administration was pushing until the questions about how he left the base and was captured started being asked.
Should he have come out and said we got back a piece of shit American deserter soldier instead, for the whole world, including enemies to hear?

Believe it or not, it wouldn't be the first time the US said something like that. Why pretend you have a rose when you know you have a skunk other than an attempt to sell something to someone?

The war in Afghanistan is a bogus war because the CIA trained the Mujaheddin in guerrilla tactics learned from studying the Viet Cong. The plan was to create a Vietnam-style quagmire for the USSR to drain resources and morale as long as the occupation lasted.

Russia invaded Afghanistan in 1979 and withdrew in defeat ten years later. The US is now 13 years in Afghanistan and no closer to victory than the Soviets were. Why? Because the CIA trained the Mujaheddin to fight a prolonged guerrilla war against a more powerful invading force.

The war was lost in 1979.
