It's much easier to afford a luxury car when you can have taxpayers foot the bill for everything else.
I don't think most people have any clue how much luxury free stuff is given to those unwilling to work (but capable).
I've seen housing provided to section 8 families that rivaled million dollar homes, only to have the beautiful granite counter tops destroyed, top of the line faucets ripped out and tens of thousands in damage done to the taxpayer provided housing, only to force taxpayers to repair and replace it all for the next lovely rent free tenants.
Taxpayers are being milked and played for pure fools.

I grew up in the area. Even as a young kid in the 1960s, I recognized the disconnect when we drove through some bad sections of DC - and the surprising number of Cadillacs.

However, in PG County, the blacks have gov jobs that provide 6-figure incomes so they can pay for their BMW’s and Mercedes while increasing crime and driving school performance down with their middle class fatherless families.

That was a slightly different dynamic. The Cadillacs were either dilapidated or their homes were. It was a priority that focused on flash. Unfortunately, it still does.
