You understand that not all people drive long distances on a regular basis, don't you? Before retirement, 200 to 250 miles per day wasn't unusual. Now I doubt I average 35 to 50 miles a day.

thats why EVs for some people is perfect, but the idea the government got into its head that it was going to try and shape the automobile industry , so that more people will drive EV's was one of the biggest problems.
Let people who drive ev's because its perfect for them drive evs.... let people who drive Gasoline vehicles because its perfect for them do likewise. and then let the free market, supply and DEMAND sort everything out.

They want to make things difficult and of course give taxpayer subsidies to car manufacturers to build
EV's or manipulate car buyers also with federal tax dollars as incentive.

Long trips do take some planning ahead but smart cars will navigate you to the closest charging station.
The good side is you can commute 80 miles back and forth to work, throw the car on the charger overnight and start over with a full charge every day. Never have to visit a gas station

I'm fine with ending tax subsidies for EVs ... I'm the kind of liberal more than happy to try the free market approach ... if past subsidies didn't kick-start the market .. then more subsidies won't help either ...

I pay $75 a year in road taxes at the fuel pump for a small pick-me-up ... I propose adding $75 to the annual registration of EV vehicles ... fairs fair, right? ... it's not passenger vehicles that damage the road bed ... what little that is changed is for sweeping and general maintenance ...

The New Green Deal takes 90% of passenger vehicles OFF the road ... that's EVs and piston-engined ... and aren't heavy semi-trucks already GPS'ed? ... weight-mile tax is the way to go ...

Toyota Tacomas can't be imported ... they'll all built here ... same with Nissan Frontiers ...
