Well I'm happy to call Trump dumb, among other things.I haven't kept up with the news recently, been busy working for a change!!
Edit : Just read the news, had said the tariffs were a dumb thing to do as opposed to calling Trump dumb.
Eh, so I guess I'll do it myself, then.
Wait, aren't you one of the Canadian members of this board? The time to do it was BEFORE you voted for this clown.
Not only did you vote for this shit, but you clearly paid no attention to what Trump did the last time he was in office either, or you would have know better than to vote for him this time.
I've been posting these easy to understand charts since Trump was first in office. Look at what has happened to the US Balance of Trade since Trump's first election.
2016 - Trade Deficit $735,326.0 billion - Obama's last year - down from $816,200 when Obama took office
2017 - Trade Deficit $792,319.6 - Trump takes office and issues tariffs against Canada and Mexico
2018 - Trade Deficit $870,358.4 - Trump issues tariffs against China and the EU at the first of the year
2019 - Trade Deficit $845,759.2 - Looks better on paper, until you realize that US exports DROPPED by $20 billion over 2018.
2020 - Trade Deficit $901,481.8 - Exports dropped by more than $220 billion dollars.
With Biden in office, exports took off like skyrockets. Trump's best year for exports was 2018, when he was going all in on tariffs. Exports totalled $1,665,786.9. In 2024, the Biden economy exported $2,065,780.0. That's a 24% percent increase over Trump's best year.
If you look at Trump's worst year for exports - 2020, Biden's 2024 imports are more than 44% higher than 2020.

.
Blow it out your ass you stupid Canadian ... No one was asking your retarded opinion ...
And we were talking about free markets and not just government-controlled markets dumbass ...
I never once suggested Canada represented an expansive free-market condition ...
Because they could never survive one.
.
Wait, aren't you one of the Canadian members of this board?
And you have the gall to tell me how to participate in my own country's political process?
Bold, aren't you?
Yes you did vote for long term tariffs. Trump was CRYSTAL clear that he was/is in favor of tariffs and telling YOU so when he was campaigning. IF YOU REGRET voting for Trump, let us know.I voted for Trump to lower prices. I voted for him not to cause trade wars with other countries. Now we're all going to see price increases.
I hope those willing to endure the economic hardship so we can stick it to other countries can justify to me why this was necessary. Why did we need these tariffs when we could have done something to ease the pain here in America?
Because your fellow MAGA travellers who voted for that deranged jerkoff will NEVER admit that he's fucking over the very same people who support him.I'm hoping rather than just rating my post "fake news" they can explain why it's fake news. I'm hoping someone can justify to me why we need to pay higher prices?
Well, if you think someone who achieved President and a billionaire dumb...........Well I'm happy to call Trump dumb, among other things.
Well, if you think someone who achieved President and a billionaire dumb...........
We can all do dumb things but Trump is certainly not dumb, no matter how hurty ones feelings might be.
OkA grown man who cannot pronounce Yosemite and advocates injecting disinfectant and who is "leading" our country, is dumb, you can turd polish fi you want, but he's dumb I don't need your advice on when the word is used correctly.
Lol. The basement insults.Who the fuck do you think YOU are, living in your grandmother's basement, Mr. High and Mighty.
Somebody needs to teach you something and then maybe you wouldn't make such stupid mistakes.
Hey genius, it was your idiot dear leader Dopetard who signed the USMCA when he was the fake POTUS. Of course that tard wants you to forget that fact.Justify?
Apparently we've been getting ripped off by other countries on their tariffs against us. Trump wants to return the favor and now they're upset.
Welcome to the world of global trade.
How can there be a "free market" when all companies are controlled by government regulation governing wages, taxes, etc.?
Neither could any democratic country - see Brazil, Chile, Venezuela.
Oh? Is that a threat, little lady?Somebody needs to teach you something and then maybe you wouldn't make such stupid mistakes.
It's only 10%. You didn't take that into account did you?So, oil and coal are two things I can think of.
Tariffs on those will impact the prices of everything else.
"With the possibility of going higher"It's only 10%. You didn't take that into account did you?
Again, I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself, don't buy products from China, Canada or Mexico and you will never see it."With the possibility of going higher"
Also China will be retaliating with 25 I believe.
